ShimShim, The black grill on mine is painted. Really not hard. Grill removes with clips. You can remove the chrome piece from the black components. Then the key is prep: sand teh chrome, apply adhesion promoter, then black primer, the I used chip resistant rim paint and a few coats of matte clear coat. I removed the dodge emblem and did the same to the chrome piece. but painted the formerly black background red. No chips in the last 4,000 miles and numerous car washes.
