  1. I have never used winter tires in winter and we get as much snow here, depending on where you are in Michigan (Yupper?). Shop for a good set of all season tires that have high number ratings for wet traction and snow.
  2. Your skinny sidewalls will give you a very rough ride. Looks vs functuality. 22s do look good on some cars. Can you get someone to photoshop a set of 22s on a side view of your DJ?
  3. Welcome to the forum. I had the use of a Malibu last night and the only way it would go through my unplowed neighborhood was to turn off the TC, and rev it to about 4,000 in 2nd to make any headway. If I left TC on, it just wanted to slip to the curb. I have not tried this on the DJ yet. TC light does come on, but I have not had to turn it off yet. The more I think about the AWD, I leaning to the side of FWD because I don't have all those extra electronics and weight. Winter has just begun: time will tell.
  4. If they intend to keep this body style for a few more years, Dodge ought to consider racetrack tail lights. Would be a very cheap fix since the tail gate is made out of plastic.
  5. All of the Jeep's since the middle 80's, when they downsized the Cherokee and then came out with the GC actually have a frame but the body is welded to the frame, not bolted: thus, a unibody. That is why you can put a lift kit on it. My Nitro was the same way, based on the second generation Liberty. Lift kits were made for both of them. I'm not sure about the newest GC, because it was in development when Diamler owned Chrysler. So, the present Jeep CG shares many parts with the Mercedes M series, as they were both being developed together. The Chrysler 300, Charger, and Challenger all sit on E Series mechanics.
  6. Maybe I could have made it through the winter with the Kumhos, but now I will never know. My real concern was not having AWD. But, as I previously posted, my DJ portrays confidence in the snow, when comparing it to my 4x4 Nitro with the same tires. This is the first non 4x4 that I have had in over 20 years. I'm sure that I will not make it through 3' of unplowed snow. I'd be bottomed out. This is just the beginning of winter for us now. It is sleeting/snowing as I type this, and I have no worries about getting to my volunteer job tomorrow.
  7. Mirror image of my thoughts, so far. 3,500 care free miles
  8. Welcome to the forum. Does it seem to run OK? Possible bad gas?
  9. Another happy DJ camper, not pissed at Dodge for building a POS! BTW, Welcome to the forum.
  10. I have a jPhone5s and it worked flawlessly, including charging, until I updated to iOS8. Now, the phone works, and charges but iTunes are AFU. GPS still works; nothing else I have spent many hours on with Apple and Uconnect. The problem is with Uconnect and they are diligently working on a fix. BTW, you can check which phones work by going to uconnectphone.com It will list all compatible phones there. It will list iphone 7, but not 8. So it becomes a patiently waiting game.
  11. Welcome to the forum. In your initial posy, you had zero information on your DJ. I was going to ask you if you hae key or push button start. I now see that you have a 2009 with a key, but mine starts with a button, so I probably cant help you other to say that your DJ no longer recognizes your key
  12. I read enough bad rap on the Khumos here that I switched to Bridgestones Dueler H/L Alenza Plus, because I had these on my previous truck. I was hesitant about not having AWD, but this is a beast in the snow. I'll give most of the applause to the tires.
  13. I have a new one, and have only been of the forum since june. So far no complaints from me. Heading towards my first oil change.
  14. What were the numbers like on the Avenger when it was cancelled?
  15. It was 1.85 but jumped to 2.35. now it is 2.09??

    Hello all

Welcome to the forum. I replaced my door speakers with 6x9 Alpines. Sound is 100% better. Kicker makes a nice little enclosed sub/amp that fits under the seat. I have a 7 seater, so no room for a sub back there.
  19. My driveway has a slight incline, and I have never noticed it. What is it with these Dealers? Everything that acts or sounds weird is always "normal".
  20. Performs flawlessly. It's possible that my new tires had lot to do with the ease of driving through all the snow we got these last few days: Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza Plus (P255/50R19). I had the same tires on my Nitro and never had any issues, although it was a 4x4. I'd imagine when I see my traction control light come on in the Tach is when the AWD would kick in. BTW, out of curiosity, does anyone know how the AWD works? I tried searching "AWD". Too short. So, I typed in "how does AWD work"? I got threads with work, does, how, AWD - you see where I am going here. AWD was never in the title of a thread, or maybe I just missed it, because the titles were what I was watching. AWD was not highlighted in this thread, so maybe words in the titles don't get highlighted. So, I posted this here. I'm guessing that the rear driveshaft is always rotating, along with the rear half shafts. I doubt that Dodge would put lock/unlock hubs on the rear. There is some sort of clutch pack full of jello, attached to the transmission (PTO). The drive shaft would be attached to the clutch pack in the front and the rear differential in the back. The front wheels start to spin which causes the jello in the clutch pack to get hot and lock which then sends power to the rear wheels. Or, if the clutch pack was part of the rear differential. with the front wheels spinning, the rear driveshaft would begin to spin faster than the rear wheels, and thus lock the clutch pack, and send power to the rear wheels. Once the jello cools back down, it would be FWD again. Is there a button on the dash where you can lock it in AWD? With all the rotational mass going on, does it affect your MPGs to those that have AWD?
  21. I'm guessing the vent also, or the vapor canister.
  22. I believe it is. I had this done to my Nitro. The harness for the Nitro connected to both sides of the tail lights, added a 7 pin connector and then ran all the way to the front and tied into the battery and TIPM (to get the anti sway) and had a red wire inside by the steering column to add an electronic trailer brake controler. I have a feeling that all of this is in the connector by the spare, on the DJ but the only way to get the anti sway to work would be to use the mopar harness and not a set of aftermarket T connectors on the tail lights. Someone else with more knowledge of the DJ is welcome to tell me I'm wrong, because I'm still fairly new here and still learning my DJ. In fact, I had to push my front DEF button twice today to get it to work, but that is another story (Thread)!
  23. Today, it sounded like it was coming from the left side. Since they checked the whole front suspension, I'm guessing everything is fine
  24. Welcome to the forum. The diesel is not offered in the States. The only thing that I know about it is that it is made by VM Motori, a company that i now owned by Fiat. I know that some were turbo charged and there a constant problem with one of the pipes going to it. Sorry; not much help to you.
