Issue solved! Now, you need to find out if the 4.3 is an integrated screen + radio, just like the mygigs. You wife's T and C is a mygig, or older style radio. They are very easy to pop out. Remove the surround panel that is usually held on with metal friction clips, and the radio is held in with 4 screws. Use a panel removal tool, so that you don't scratch or break anything. If the 4.3 is an integrated radio/screen, it may be just as simple as the T and C.

Trailer Tow FLASH (2014 Journey Crossroad)
dhh3 replied to sharkbait8574's topic in Hauling & Towing
As far as I know, the trailer tow group adds the oil cooler and the 7 pin harness. My window sheet does not list a trailer tow group, but it does specifically show the oil cooler. I did not get the 7 pin harness. My center caps and floor mats were already in place. I had to order and pay for the front license plate braket because Indiana does not require a front plate. Or, so I was told! -
Welcome to the forum. I concur that it is a venting issue. Since you have a 2014, has it done this from the beginning, or did it just start doing it? BTW, I have been overfilling my vehicles for years, sometimes to the top of the filler neck. I have never had any issues. Lucky, maybe.

I remember, I think that it was the late 70's, when the US was going to switch over to the metric system. All of the mileage markers on I-93 from Boston north were switched over. And, then they had to switch them back. Stupid government. It's not their $!

Welcome to the forum. Disconnect the negative terminal on your battery to reset the memory. This is like restarting your computer. Radio/Uconnect issues can take up to 30 minutes to purge their memory, so leave the negative terminal disconnected for at least 30 minutes. The radio has a small battery, so you will not lose you presets. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

I do not know how the radio is wired. An educated guess would be that the radio goes through it's own Eq, then out to the speakers. The Aux and CD may have a separate Eq to pass through, which may be shot. Can you play your phone or CDs in someone elses car? If both sound as they should, I'm guessing something is electronically wrong with your radio, because you said the radio sounds fine; external sources do not, In my experience, Dealers do not work on radios. They send them out to be repaired. This can be costly. If you have good luck in another car, contact oemautoparts. They may give you a core charge/discount if you send them your radio. Again, I have no idea if the 4.3 is an integrated radio/screen like the mygigs. The 8.4 is not.

What did you burn the CDs from? If from your computer, play an original CD on your computer, or whatever you started with and see how it sounds. I have an HP desktop and copied all of my CDs directly into my iTunes Library. The copied CDs sound as good or better using this method, when played from iTunes. All I had to do then was to copy my entire iTunes Library to my iPhone. Everything sounds the same.

Chryslers are imported from Detroit. Not sure if DJs cross the border over the river, or on trains with people on the tops of the railroad cars.

Welcome to the forum. No hood deflector for me either. When I have used them in the past, I have noticed a considerable drop in mpgs! -
I guess 30 degrees is not so bad!

The DJ is an import. It's made in Mexico. LOL

Do you know if the 4.3 is the actual radio? When my dealer was installing my rear view camera, I walked back to check on their progress when everyone was at lunch. The 8.4 is just a screen. The radio actually sits behind it somewhere (it was loose when I checked). It looks like a mygig without the screen. I'm with you on listening to the radio. All my music is on my iPhone, but I screwed up. I updated my phone to iOS8 and now it no longer plays well with Uconnect. So, I listen to The Spectrum. At least they play some of my music, until an update comes out.

Trailer Tow FLASH (2014 Journey Crossroad)
dhh3 replied to sharkbait8574's topic in Hauling & Towing
I keep reading what the OP posted. She purchased a new 2014 DJ with the Tow Prep Group. Why would she be charged to have it activated? Wouldn't it have been activated at the factory? Since the harness attaches to a bracket on the Mopar hitch, the harness would not be installed until the hitch was in place. I get this part. Something smells rotten here! Or, what am I missing? I also have a 2014 Crossroad. I have the V6 with an oil cooler. I have the harness that terminates by the spare. I did not get the prep kit; i.e. 5-pin connector harness! So, in my case, I would expect to have to pay to have it activated once I install a hitch. But, why her? -
You got that right! LOL

If your radio sounds decent, and this only does this with CDs, the laser may be going out. The factory speakers are crap paper. I switched my 4 door speakers for 6x9 Alpines. According to Crutchfield, no one makes a replacement for the dash speakers, so I left them as is. If it it the laser, check out oemautoparts.com. They specialize in Mopar radios; some are brand new dealer takeouts. They bench test every radio they sell, update it to the most current software, and replace the screen if there are any marks. Great prices and great people to work with

Welcome to the forum. Now that it is getting cold, I notice a slight shake until it warms up. Maybe 2 miles or so. Does this 6 speed have a lock-up torque converter?

You are probably the poster where I read this on the forum. There is a Katzkin installer here where I live. I will check him out at the end of the month, and see what he says about doing both seats.

Window Vent/Visor/Deflector Recommendations

The Weathertechs are in-channel. I never thought about the window going up. It was not a slight noise. It was loud. Maybe because the Nitro was basically a brick on wheels. -
I like the black tape with the tint on your windows. I also have the black tape. I was thinking of adding the chrome to the sills, but have decided to keep everything around the windows black.

I'm really pissed at myself for not checking my car out more thoroughly. Seeing the leather, I assumed it had heat. I never thought to ask the salesman. My last 4 trucks had them!
-
Every new car I purchase I have permanent undercoating applied. No need for rustproofing. I use Ziebart, and have never had issues, other than the smell never seems to go away!

I put Weathertechs on my Nitro - way too noisy for me. I will do without on my DJ -
