    The End of the Line?

    I'd like to get a Cherokee, but the towing capacity is only 2,000 pounds. I haven't really looked at the GC since the new body style came out. I priced out a Cherokee Trailhawk, and to get it the way I would want it, it would be close to $37,000!
  2. Unplug the sensor, and make sure you did not bend a pin. They are touchy. Then disconnect the negative terminal of your battery for about 30 minutes to reset your system. See what happens.

  4. New battery installed. The tech removed the plastic tray, and spray painted the battery tray with rubberized undercoating. Hopefully, this will keep from having issues in the future.

  6. If you did not plug in the sensor properly, the car will have no idea at what rate each wheel is turning. Hence, no AWD, ABS, TC and I'll bet that your Cruise will not work either.
  7. My Nitro had an easy fix to all of this. The fuse for the Power Port was a two position fuse. Installed in one position, it was hot all the time. The other position, it was hot only with the key. When they come up with neat ideas like this, why can't they keep them?

  9. I have a $20 savings coupon from Michel Tires Plus (friendly tire store)! on an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus battery. Never had an Interstate battery before, but it is my understanding that there are just a few battery factories producing all the different brands. The battery is taking a charge, but ever so slowly. Car will now start, but I'm not going anywhere until tomorrow! Made an online appointment for 11 AM
  10. Sergio Marchionne isn't crazy. At least not with respect to the recent announcement that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will cease production of the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200. Instead of crazy I'd call this CEO ruthlessly pragmatic, and perhaps short-sighted. The latest revisionsto FCA's most recent five-year plan tell some truths about the company's finances. In other words, it can't afford to build mainstream sedans. With only 87,392 units sold in 2015, the Dart is an also-ran in the segment. The axe falls easily there - Chrysler hasn't had a compact-car hit since the second-generation Neon. The 200 isn't so cut and dried: Last year sales increased 52 percent, and the 177,889 total for 2015 is more than those for the Subaru Legacy and Kia Optima. But looking at the overall FCA picture the Chrysler 200 has to go, at least from a short-term perspective. The vehicles that make big money – Ram trucks; Jeep's Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler – can't be made fast enough. FCA can't afford to idle the 200's Sterling Heights, MI, assembly plant to cut back on inventory when other plants are running flat out. It seems crazy to throw away 265,000 sales, but FCA is leaving money on the table by not building more profitable vehicles. The Wirecutter's Senior Autos Editor (and former Autoblogger) John Neff agrees. "As bold as it looks from the outside, he's really making a safe bet that their money is better spent on designing better and building more crossovers and trucks. He's probably right about that." But according to Jessica Caldwell, Executive Director of Strategic Analytics at Edmunds, "FCA's strategy of eliminating the Dart and 200 might be short-sighted if gas prices were to rise and Americans, once again, flocked to small vehicles. FCA must have plans to expand the lineup of small SUVs and position them as small-car alternatives in terms of price and fuel efficiency for this strategy to make sense." FCA's latest announcement focuses mainly on the profitable brands and nameplates. There's hardly a mention of Chrysler, Dodge, or Fiat. And future planning is where the plot holes appear. There are plenty of brands with car-heavy lineups that Jeep and Ram would match up well with, but no one wants to deal with the baggage that is 200 and Dart." But who would have them? VW is still reeling from the emissions scandal, but an FCA tie-up would immediately provide SUV volume, a weak spot in the German company's American lineup. Or Hyundai could swoop in, eager to become a full-line automaker. Heck, Marchionne keeps beating the partnership drum so hard, don't be surprised to see a Chinese manufacturer step up. Killing the Dart and 200 is basically an admission by FCA that it can't make a competitive product in these segments. Either the profits or the sales potential is too low. And if the company is healthier without those cars, so much the better. But lacking a backup plan if a merger never materializes or fuel prices spike, Marchionne could land Chrysler in worse shape than when Fiat first came to the rescue. PS. The moron still insists that Alfa Romeo is NOT For Sale! It appears that my next vehicle will be a Jeep. I'm on the hunt for a 2009 Jeep Commander Overland!
  11. That's weird, because some of the MyGigs on the 2009/10 were Camera compatible.
  12. I only have 11,500 miles; two years at the end of June. I'll take it to my friendly tire store and ask him to to check the charging system. If OK, I'll buy a battery from him. If charging system fails, off to the Dealer for Warranty work!
  13. Possibly from your accident the CV joint(s) had too much pressure put on them, and they are beginning to fail. They will definitely click when they start to fail. Check the boots. Look for tares. If the lube/grease begins to leak out, they will soon be toast.
  14. When I bought my DJ two years ago, it has the 8.4 but no Camera. As as part of my purchase deal, I had my Dealer install the Camera. I paid for the Camera, and they installed it for free. Not sure where you are getting your info from. Bramfrank installed a Camera himself. Not sure if anyone else has done this. I always leave the middle 2nd row headrest/armrest down. Better visibility.

  16. Anyone have their battery fail within the first two years? Dead as a door nail this morning. I have it on my charger, but it doesn't seem to be taking a charge. Off to my Dealer tomorrow; either me driving or being towed in! May be the charging system.
  17. My Dealer took back my Lemon Durango! That's how I ended up in a brand new 2006 Commander.

  19. I doubt if load-leveling shocks would come from the Factory. If you can get a build sheet for your car, it will list the suspension. I have touring. Have no idea what is different. Monroe make a good HD shock for the DJ. More than likely better than what you have now. Bilstein does not make shocks for the DJ. I checked!
  20. Possible that one of the rear calipers is loose. That is why you wouldn't hear anything when pushing the brake pedal.
  21. You have the old style radios. What are the three letters silk screened on the lower right corner of your radio template?
  22. You may have an issue with the lower spring bracket on the front struts. I have P255/50R19s mounted on my 19" Crossroad wheels, which have a slightly deeper dish, pushing the tires out slightly. I can not get my index finger nail between the tire and the spring bracket. So, yes, I would conclude that 3/4" would not work. These tires are 1.18" wider than stock, so roughly 1/2 inch on either side. Any tire you mount could not stick out farther than the wheel, which in itself, may rub.
