Did you remove your resonator?

Screen and HVAC stopped working
dhh3 replied to Mcgusto82's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Maybe in Canada they aren't, but in the US they are. Any Mopar part installed by a Certified Mopar Dealer becomes part of the vehicle, and thus covered by the warranty. The Camera has been added to my Sales Code Sheet; so, it is like it came from the factory, and is covered as such. -
Screen and HVAC stopped working

I had the same issue with a Lockpick in my Nitro. The camera suddenly stopped working. I checker all the connections, all the dip pin switches to make sure it had not changed from High Speed to Low Speed Bus. It was still under warranty so I sent it back. Someone at Lockpick signed for it; I checked UPS Tracking. It was in their building, and I waited about a week and emailed the seller. They lost it; so, Coastal sent me a new one. I also had a Coastal Camera, but Coastal no longer makes Cameras. Chrysler never made a Camera kit for the Nitro; the closest one that I could get to fit was from a Caravan, so I went with a Lockpick. The Lockpick will support up to 4 Cameras and a nice feature was that I could hit the phone button twice in quick succession and the Camera would come on at any time, and do the same to turn it off. I'm not sure if this feature works with these new crap radios. As far as issues with the Factory Camera, I had mine installed by my Dealer as part of the deal purchasing my DJ and it has worked flawlessly for 1.5 years. This is my second winter with it. The only issue is that it collects dirt, so I wipe it off occasionally. I bought an extended warranty, so if it has issues, I'm covered. $0 deductible! -
Thanks for the screen shots. Seems easy enough to do, but not for $795! It would be cheaper to have My Dealer activate them if the Code should appear again. Stay tuned! Hey Lobitz, I did get off my ass and went as far as I could. Now I'm patiently waiting for the Code to show up again so I can have it added to my build sheet. Can't wait to see the look on my Service Adviser's face when I tell him that Auto Lights work electronically, not not mechanically with a harness!

When you were pulling fuses, did you pull any relays?

Look for wet spots above the rear window. If you are using only water, the line going to the rear may have frozen, or just become disconnected from the nozzle.

You could have purchased a bad battery, as stated, but have the battery go dead in such a short amount of time could be the starter solenoid, or something in the starting circuit.

The black box behind the rear view mirror is the humidity sensor for the Auto HVAC

I swapped out all of my audio for Alpine, and not the crap paper speakers Dodge is pushing as Alpine. Have an Alpine amp, and a Kicker under seat 8" sub, mounted in a ported box, similar to a Bose Radio. Both factory systems sound like crap.

Odd that both the SD Card and Bluetooth are skipping as they connect electronically. If it were just the CD player, I would say one of the dampeners broke. See if the radio itself is loose. The SD card plugs into it, so you know where it is located, and reach behind there to see if the whole radio is loose.

I put a Mopar CAI and Jet Stage II chip on my Nitro. All that changed was the sucking sound from the CAI, which did sound nice. Waste of $, IMHO!

Plastidip the wheel wells! Or, spray on bed liner.

No, you have to add both the Sensor and Switch for Auto Headlights. My Crossroad came with Auto HVAC. The harness to the Sensor has 4 wires. The Sensor in my Crossroad, from the Factory, only had 3 pins; thus using only 3 of the 4 wires in the Harness. The new Sensor for AUTO Lights has 4 pins; thus, the 4th wire sends a signal to turn on the lights in dim or dark conditions. The Light Switch has to be in the AUTO position to complete the circuit, so the lights come on automatically. So simple, it is stupid. When I initially bought my Crossroad, I wanted Auto Headlights. I was told to forget about it because they would have to remove 1/2 of the dash to run a harness from the switch to the sensor. BS! Auto Headlights run through the CanBus just about like everything else! You just need the beginning (Sensor) and the end (Switch) to complete the circuit! Who is zooming who here? As far as the antenna, the base is for Sirius and the tiny mast is for AM/FM. I believe that the GPS antenna was built into the MyGigs with Nav, but I don't know about these new crap radios. If all you are asking is if you can have your lights come on with the ignition, I can't answer that question with certainty because I installed the sensor first.

New safety recall recieved in mail yesterday
dhh3 replied to tyeayo's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins
NO! Green Bay Packers! (Although The Packers and The Jets do have the same Standing: 10,5,0!) -
New Switch installed today. New Sensor installed yesterday. Lights work as you said: In the AUTO position, Lights come ON and go OFF with the ignition ON/OFF. So, everything is hooked up correctly. Now, all I need to do is wait until Chrysler turns the Sales Code for Auto Headlights back on. Now, since I know that the AUTO lights work on an electronic connection rather than a direct (Harness) connection between the Switch and the Sensor, I may never find out what that Harness is hanging down behind the radio! For those with the 8.4 Nav radio, where is the GPS antenna? Is it built into the radio?

New safety recall recieved in mail yesterday
dhh3 replied to tyeayo's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins
There is a card on the notification letter that you need to fill in, and mail back to FCA as you no longer own the vehicle. FCA can then send the new owner the recall. I do not think that the possibility of losing one's ABS deserves an LOL. -
I purchased my new switch Wednesday and they mailed it out on the same day, returned the wrong switch Thursday, and installed the new sensor today. My new correct switch may be here tomorrow. So, now I patiently wait. I'm considering a drive to Texas!

Charging system / electrical problems
dhh3 replied to Lisa Brown's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I have had it happen to me two times, each in a different vehicle. Both times it was a battery with a bad cell. Good one day, dead the next day. I wonder if it could be the crankshaft position sensor? The electronics are going crazy because they have no idea what position the crankshaft is in at any given moment. The 3.6 has variable valve timing, i believe on both the intake and exhaust valves: for economy, power and emissions. If the engine does not have any idea what position the crankshaft is in, none of this stuff can work properly. To lose charge as fast as you do, there has to be a dead short somewhere. Once the voltage drops below the optimum threshold, all of the electronics go crazy.- 18 replies

What gauge wire did you use from the battery to the lights, in the harness that you made? Did they come with any instructions as to amp draw, and voltage range? Is your battery fairly new or new?

Are you going to leave the Fiat Logo on it or try and swap it for a Ram's Head Logo? Very distinctive look; black headlights would make it pop!
