New safety recall recieved in mail yesterday
dhh3 replied to tyeayo's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins
I visited my Dealer today to talk about Auto Headlights. They said that as long as I was there they would perform the Recall, since they received the repair parts. The fix requires removing the ground wire from the strut tower, spraying the ground wire with lithium grease (water repellent) and sliding on a "heat tube" and shrinking it to encase the lithium grease. Wow. A 2 page thread for this. We should all be ashamed. -
This is the position it was parked when I first laid eyes on it: Weep! I love this color. Great color for a HellCat!

On my window sticker, under Optional Equipment, it says: Customer Preferred Package 28V, but there is no pricing listed. So it must be part of what comes standard (?). Your sticker says: $1,100. I have all of these things that are listed, so now I now what it is! Customer Preferred Package 28V $ 1,100 Crossroad Equipment Group Leather Seats with Sport Mesh Inserts Premium Door Trim Panel with Stitching Cargo Net Radio 8.4 8.4-Inch Touchscreen Display Light Gray Accent Stitching Power 6-Way Driver Seat Power 4-Way Driver Lumbar Adjust Front-Passenger Fold-Flat Seat Passenger In-Seat Cushion Storage Passenger Assist Handles Front and Rear Aimable LED Lamps Overhead Console Air Conditioning with 3-Zone Automatic Temp Control Sun Visors with Illuminated Vanity Mirrors Went to my Dealer again today, and again was told that Auto Headlights can not be added! We'll see about that, after I install the new parts!

The back up camera plugs into the radio; I believe that it gets its power from the radio. So, I would check the fuse for the radio. Have you done any alterations to the radio? I was at my Dealer's today, checking on the ability to add the Auto Headlights. They told me it could not be done! AGAIN! Anyway, the left and right hand temperature sensors will always throw a fault code because of the Tweeters that replaced my factory dash speakers. Go figure

Yup, that's the one! It will be in the 50s here! Any snow up north?

With the huge back brace I am still wearing (I am referred to as Darth Vader), and my seat all the way up, finding the end for the seat belt became too difficult. I found a seat belt extender, the one with no webbing, that just clips into the original. Now, if I'm the only one in the car, the chime never comes on. Sometimes I get to my destination, only to find I never put on my seatbelt.

Sorry to burst your bubble. In 2014, there was only one Crossroad. My base price was $24,995. I have Leather Seats, with the mesh inserts (std. on Crossroad Plus) and all the leather on the doors, console and shifter; all stitched with grey thread. I believe that I have everything that yours does, except rear DVD and of course no auto lights! My 8.4 is non nav and I like it that way. If I need nav, I use my iPad Air. I found a mount for it that clips on the center vents. When hooked via the USB, Siri shuts down the speakers when calling out directions. And I do not have the Factory Alpine system: I built my own! My only options were V6, 7 passenger, and Customer Preferred Package 28V, whatever that is. Mine is also FWD. With destination, sticker price: $29,190. Of course I did not pay that! Oh, and I bought it for the color! First time buying a car just for the color! There may be other options I'm not aware of. like single push passenger side window, etc. I have no idea why Dodge did this. To get the stitched leather on the doors you have to buy the optional leather package for almost a grand! I ordered the switch and sensor. Stay tuned!

Some data on transmission performance
dhh3 replied to jeffhoward001's topic in Engine & Transmission
I got it done under warranty. I think their hourly rate is around $70. They will hook it up to a computer, and compare it to factory specs. I told them to bump it up about 5 mph. 260-484-1533 -
Is yours a Crossroad Plus with the leather package?

12 volt power fuse keeps blowing
dhh3 replied to bobcat98092's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Not all 12v DC plugs are the same. I bought a 12v to USB converter from Best Buy and it would not seat properly in the 12v Port under the dash. I took it back in and swapped it for a different brand. Popped in perfectly. Weird. -
Some data on transmission performance
dhh3 replied to jeffhoward001's topic in Engine & Transmission
Glenbrook. 5 Star. No issues. Ever. Now, back to the thread. I do not believe that the transmission actually locks up until it is in 6, and settled out. I can feel it lock: like a seventh gear. Just leave it in 5 and see what you get. I did this one time and forgot I was in 5. It will take off in 5, but at a very leisurely pace! LOL -
Mine did not come with heated seats. When I went to add them, they could only do the backrest on the passenger side because of "a sensor" - probably the one for the air bag.

Some data on transmission performance
dhh3 replied to jeffhoward001's topic in Engine & Transmission
I was going to say the exact same thing. The transmission is locking up too soon. Most of the above members are no longer around, but there is a very easy fix to this. Go to the Dealer and tell them that your transmission is locking up too soon. They can adjust the speed at which it locks up. Your MPGs may suffer a little. I have had this done to my 3 previous vehicles and it was like getting a new car. No need to have it done on my DJ, because I have never experienced any of this. I did remove my resonator. -
The top would still extend past the bottom. If he saved your file, all he would need to do would to extend the bottom about 2" and stop it at the flare; just like he extended the gray drop shadow past the rear door cut line. Just me, I guess. There are a lot of boat manufactures around here and they would come in every year for a one off design for the Boat Show. One year, we had a dual axle boat trailer in the shop, making a set of sea green and deep blue stripes that crossed over each other, the whole length of the black trailer. What a job, and each skinny stripe comes off of a 12" roll!

Yup, there are 4 wires but only 3 pins with my original sensor.. I'll bet that the sensor for the Auto function has 4 pins. Possibly the same with the light switch. I found both the sensor and switch by doing a Google search of both part numbers. Lots of hits and lots of cheap prices. As soon as you get yours to function properly (Adding Sales Code and Activating it), I will buy the parts and finally get mine done. Thank you very much for all of your effort. My 2006 Jeep Commander had auto headlights! Come on, Dodge!

Transmission issue - stuck in park on shifter but actually in reverse
dhh3 replied to QAGuy's topic in Engine & Transmission
No knowing what the pink lever fix is, it won't start because it thinks it is in gear. Can you get under it and see if anything is wedged in the linkages? -
Being in the printing and graphics industry for over 25 years, it appears to my eye that there is a piece missing. The piece I'm referring to would go from the door cut line to the fender flare. It's awesome, but it looks unfinished by not continuing past the door.

As far as the Trailer Tow Group in the DJ: there is a harness in place that runs from the front, and terminates behind the spare tire with a blue plug in it. And, an oil cooler on the engine. Mine has both of these. You need a harness that needs to be plugged into this existing harness which terminates with a 4-pin connector. This harness has a bunch of christmas tree retainers and relays on it! You need to remove the rear bumper to push the retainers into existing holes in the back of the car, according to the directions. And, you need to buy and install a hitch. Since I backed into a truck which was NOT in the view of my camera, I crunched my bumper. No metal damage. I had the body shop install the harness since they had the bumper off. Now, all I need is to have the harness (trailer lights) activated. Trailer harness has to be added to the build sheet/sales code as were my DRLs. I'm guessing Auto lights has to be added in the same fashion. I, also, have a sensor in the dash, the same PT # as your original. I just went out and checked. My sensor is plugged in! LOL. So, that is not the mystery wire! But, it only has 3 pins and there are 4 wires in the harness. Does the new sensor have 4 pins? I think that the sensor has something to do with the Auto HVAC. The humidity sensor is stuck to the windshield near the rear view mirror. I was thinking that a harness/wire had to run between the sensor and the light switch. That is what I was hoping that wire is hanging back behind the dash. Obviously, nothing needs to run between the sensor and light switch. There is another thread on the forum that lists the part numbers for the 3 sensors that are available, and what their individual functions are. Do you have auto HVAC? I have searched for an hour looking for it, but I can not find it.

New safety recall recieved in mail yesterday
dhh3 replied to tyeayo's topic in Recalls & Technical Service Bulletins
How many times do we have to say WAIT: you will receive another card/letter stating the parts are available. I can't believe that this is going on for 2 pages. -
The side panels have to be different between the 5 and 7 passenger. The cargo cover will fit the 5 passenger but not the 7 passenger.

No. More along the sides of the charger. One model has them. They follow the indent in the front doors and then the contours of the body to the back! LOL
