  1. I said that my Dealer had my car for 4 days. I did not say that the installation took four days. Thursday at noon, I snuck around the back, and walked into the service bay where my car was. The left side third row seat was sitting on the floor, and all of the interior trim on the lift gate as well as all the trim from back to front on the driver's side was out of the car. The center stack was out along with the radio. So, it took him 4 hours just to do this. I took the shuttle home. I called the Service Manager on Friday afternoon, and he said the car would be done before noon on Monday. On Monday, I called the shuttle to pick me up and that is when I found out about the mishap. That is also when I was offered a loaner through Enterprise. I have no way of knowing if he worked on it all day Thursday and Friday, but I did get it back Tuesday before noon. The quote came from the Mopar Service Manual. Rearview Camera: 2 hours.
  2. OMG! I was born and raised in Southampton and spent a lot of my youth out east in Montauk. We would drive out there to watch the sunrise. My brother still lives there, but whenever I get to go home, I want to leave ASAP. Once Hollywood and the New Money Wall Street types discovered the Hamptons, it was over for me. All a bunch of snots. I love to walk down Main Street, or Jobs Lane in Southampton and pick out the wannabe's, hoping to get discovered! I have learned to spot them from a mile away. While I was growing up, it was the "Old Money" who had summer homes out there. The Fords, the DuPonts, ZaZa Gabor, Funk of dictionary fame (the stories I could tell). There were about 3,000 who lived in Southampton all year round, and the population might swell to 30,000 in the summer. What a great place for a kid to grow up. The ocean on one side, the Bay and the Sound on the other side. Next time you are out there, take the ferry to Shelter Island. If it hasn't changed since the last time I was there, you'll get a glimpse of how the South Fork used to look. On the second floor of the high school, in the science room, you could look out and see the sweet corn growing right up to the sand dunes!
  3. Welcome to the forum. My Crossroad has a grab handle above all 4 doors. Would something like this work?
  4. Tech started at 8AM on a Thursday, and was almost done on Friday. He doesn't work Saturdays. He drove to Toledo to help a friend move. His truck broke down on the way back Sunday evening, so no work was done to my car on Monday. The Service Manager didn't want to put another tech on it because there was no way of knowing where he left off. That is when they got me the rental, and thanked me for my understanding. My tech got back to Fort Wayne late Monday afternoon, and finished it up by Tuesday morning. S**t happens every once in a while. I never lost my cool, and just told the tech to do a good job, which he did. They told me that I would not have to pay any more than the 2 hour quote: $172.00. I would think that the DJ would have to be prewired for the book to say 2 hours installation time.
  5. I had a 68 Cougar XR7 with the GT Package: 390 with 335 HP. The whole car was stolen 2x while I was going to School in Boston. The first time, I got it back from the police impound, and I had to fight with the insurance co. to pay for all of the restoration work I had done. Second time, I was not so lucky. Police chased him, and he hit a tree going approximately 120 mph! The transmission ended up between the seats. And, the front of the car broke loose when they pulled it onto a flatbed truck. I would love to find another one.
  6. When I start my DJ, I immediately push the warning button once it appears. Once I get the radio interface, I shift into R and the camera comes on. If I don't do this, there is a pause while the radio is performing its' cautionary steps. I believe that the warning has something to do with liability. On my Nitro, I installed a rear view camera with a LockPick. If I pushed the Uconnect button twice in quick succession, the camera would come on. If someone was tailgating, I could see how close. Two more quick pushes of the Uconnect button turned the camera off. See, there are times that you need to push a button twice, other than the Defroster, to get things to work.
  7. They are standard on the Blacktop and Crossroad.
  8. In order to determine your rise or drop, you need to get your DJ level, and measure from the center of the square hitch hole to the ground. Then, you need to get your trailer level. I'm guessing that your trailer has a crank jack. Measure from the top of the inside of where the ball goes to the ground. The difference between these numbers will be your rise/drop.
  9. Welcome to the forum. My favorite show on TV is Swamp People on History!
  10. I wouldn't buy them from Autozone. All of their branded items are Chinese junk.
  11. You can save a hell of a lot of $ by using your cell phone for GPS. I am not sure about Android, but with my iPhone I pair it via Bluetooth, and plug it into the powered USB port in the console. I put my trip into my phone, and the phone will stay on until I reach my destination; plus it is being charged by the USB port. Siri will interrupt the radio when calling out directions, through the car's speakers. I have a neat mount made by Insignia that clips to the center vents, putting the road mounts at eye level. When I bought my DJ last June, I worked out a deal with my Dealer. The left rear panel needs to be removed, the hatch cover needs to be removed, the camera is part of the piece of plastic where the license plate lights are, so it has to be replaced. If you have a 7 seater, the left rear seat has to be removed to remove the panel. The door sill panels on the left side and the drivers kick panel need to be removed. The center part of the dash needs to be removed along with the radio. My Dealer bought the camera, and I paid for the labor. The book says 2 hours, so I paid $172.00. They had my car for 4 days and had to get me a rental!
  12. I would be concerned with whatever was blocking it: unknown whatever. What if whatever it was could be broken down by gas, and thus enter the tank and fuel system? You need to know exactly what it was. Could have been a piece of Agave Plant because the guy installing the filler tubes on the line didn't want to get caught making tequila on the line.
  13. Thank you for answering my question. My dealer does not have a set price for the hitch install, whether it came from the Factory or added, like I am doing. He basically said $400.00, give or take. I need to get my new decks stained/sealed, and then I will worry about the hitch.
  14. I'm not sure how it works in Canada, but when you decide to buy the vehicle, you have to sit in the Finance Manager's office where they will add all kinds of things which you don't need and may not want. This is where the Dealer makes money. The only thing I took, before signing, was the extended warranty. I made him remove a few things, that he just added, thinking that I would not read before signing. These things can add up to the point where you have lost your $3,000 incentive. Buyer beware, at least in the US!
  15. Amen to this, brother. I, too, listen to Rock type music: The Spectrum on Sirius, and my own music. You obviously have read my other threads on what else I have added to my DJ: all Alpine. In my Nitro, I added a complete Kicker system: speakers, 2 amps and an 8" sub. But what I have added to my DJ sounds better balanced, and I, too, am completely surprised with the clarity of the sound, and how well a song sounds compared to when I purchased the DJ. I can hear every sound; sounds that I never heard before. Unbelievable! Since I have the third row, my only options were the Kicker unit, or trying to fit a sub behind the left rear panel, where the factory sub resides. There is not a whole lot of room in that space, to move the air within the enclosure. Besides, the factory sub is a 6x9, not the ideal shape and size for a sub. I believe that I made the right choice with this little Kicker unit. It was actually designed for single cab pickups, where space is a premium.
  16. Sounds like a plan. Sounds good to me. I'm thinking that there is a liquid rust remover, but I could be wrong. It might affect the surrounding paint.
  17. I believe the the enclosure is similar to to a Bose radio, in that the enclosure is ported. There is plenty of base, with a wide spectrum of gain. Mine is wired between the radio and the external amp. The Sub does have a built in crossover. It is best to turn down the bass on the equalizer to let the sub do its job on its own. List price is $299. I offered $250 from Half Price Car Audio on ebay and they accepted my offer; installation was $90 @ Best Buy.
  18. I did not realize that about the tail lights. I knew that was the way that the headlights appear to be "black/tinted". Now, I will have to go compare mine with another DJ.
  19. Then what is AHC for? Can AHT be added?
  20. Depending how big the repair is, you have to eliminate the rust. You may have to touch it up with primer first.
  21. I feel for you, Brian. I have had 0 issues with mine.
