Thank you for the compliment. The color is called Copperhead Pearl. I have never seen another one on the street; only on the forum.

Look underneath and see if there is a drive shaft going to the rear wheels. It is a completely automatic system, so there are no buttons/switches/levers inside!

Intermittent Uconnect Issues
dhh3 replied to redtomatoman's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
After 2 months of screwing around with my iTunes Library on my PC, I finally got the SD card to do what it is supposed to do, as far as integrating with the radio, so I use the card. But, now I have no idea how to add new music to the card without starting all over again! My iPOD Touch with iOS7.1 refuses to work with the radio as it should. -
Welcome to the forum. As for what I have been told, the factory rear view camera only works with the two 8.4" radios offered in the DJ - with or without Nav. Uconnect only supports iOS7.1. I have an iPhone 6 with iOS8.2, and my phone works flawlessly but I'm still having trouble with the music playing as it should with the radio controls. I even found an iPod Touch with iOS7.1, but it will not integrate with the radio either. But, I do use my phone as a Nav unit. I found a great mount, made by Insignia. It clips to the center vents. The phone is paired with the radio, and I connect the phone to the powered USB port in the console. Siri interrupts the radio when she calls out directions. The phone will stay on until I reach my destination, and the USB recharges the battery. So, no need to buy a Nav unit. If I were you, I would get an aftermarket double din radio with all the features that you want. Which ever radio you choose, there will be recommendations for a camera. Call Crutchfield. Tell them what you have and what you want to do. They will have everything needed for a tidy installation. And, it will be a lot less if you try to go with any factory unit. When I purchased my DJ last summer, I made a deal with my dealer: they paid for the camera, and I paid for the installation. The book said 2 hours, so that is what I paid. They had my car 5 days! IMHO, Chrysler made a huge mistake when they stopped installing MyGigs with the 30 gig HD. This 8.4 radio is infuriating, and I like it less everyday. I like the bigger screen, but that is about it. If there was a way to install a MyGig, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It is possible to do this in the DJs with the old style dash. Good luck in which ever route you take.

Anybody have yellow fog lights?
dhh3 replied to onecrazyfoo4u's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
No, only ebay. I never learned to use Amazon, so I just stick to what I know. I guess it is because of the way they display their items. -

I copied your link, and pasted it in the search engine on ebay and bought a pair last night. $29.95. Free shipping. I will post results and pictures. They come from California. I have used Nokya bulbs in the past, and never had issues with them. I have never bought anything from Amazon. Funny, though, some books I buy on ebay come from Amazon! In all reality, fog lights are supposed to be yellow. The yellow produces less glare and reflection off of the fog, and actually lets you see better and farther in the fog. I know, because I grew up on the East end of Long Island, NY, and the fog there can be so thick you can not see the leading edge of your hood! I have no idea why all fog lights do not come with yellow bulbs. Of course, everyone drives with them on, whether it is foggy or not! So, I guess that it is a moot point! LOL -
Are the Northern Plains as flat as Indiana?

I'm getting between 17.5 -19 around town. It gets better as I put the miles on it. Last summer, on the interstate around Columbus, Ohio I was getting a steady 35.6 @ 74 mph. I never saw that on the Nitro. I think that the 6 speed has a lot to do with it, and the Pentastar is an awesome engine. You will not be sorry and will want to rip your wife's hands off of the steering wheel! You can adjust the small center cluster to do 3 things. I keep mine on mpgs, so I can keep it in the green!

Fresh air intake opening to filter box
dhh3 replied to probak118's topic in Accessories, Modifications
OK. Curiosity got the best of me. I have one piece of pliable hollow rubber hooked to the bottom of the hood. It is the size (length) of the opening of the plastic intake, and by the dust, when the hood is closed, it sits 2 - 2.5" in front of the intake. Air is free to enter both sides, and the intake has a slight curve to guide the air in. Semi Ram Air? -
Were you thinking of a small pop up camper? Frontal area (wind resistance) is very important. You have a 4 speed transmission. If you can stay close to the 1,000 pounds, consider an aux transmission cooler. From what I understand, the V6s used to be 3,500, but are now rated at 2,500. Try and find out if the older DJs with a 4 cylinder were rated higher. You may be OK, but I would definitely get the cooler.

Fresh air intake opening to filter box

You posted at the same time that I did. I'll take a look at it later. Thank you to an informed DJ owner! I'm still learning, and have a long way to go! -
Changing the battery on a DJ is like changing the spark plugs on my 1990 Bronco II. The left front wheel needs to be removed! Someone else can do it! LOL

Maybe keep out rain at high speed? I have never really looked at it! -
It is the interior of the headlight housing which is painted black. The chrome reflector part is still chrome. From different angles they blend into the grill. Maybe you could take your headlamp assemblies apart and just paint them your self. The black is all the straight areas leading to the front of the assemblies, and the part under the headlight that could be LEDs. The curved part behind the bulbs is left chrome for light reflection. The side marker light has black on it also, but if you have an export DJ, yours may be white/clear instead of amber. Some people Plasidip their grills in place; others go to the trouble of removing their grill. I have not removed my grill yet, so I have no idea how labor intensive it is.

speakers for third row
dhh3 replied to firststate's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
There are no speakers in the third row, unless you have the upgraded system with the external amp and sub. The sub would be behind the left rear panel; thus the third row. Putting Fade all the way to the rear shuts down the front door and dash speakers and puts the sound to the rear doors. That might be helpful to someone sitting in the third row, but they would also have to put up with the bass, if the DJ has the optional sub. My Jeep Commander had no speakers in the third row either, even with the upgrade BA system. -

Are they direct replacement bulbs? I have never bought anything on Amazon. -
Free is good. I always like free. When I bought the DJ, I talked my dealer into a rearview camera. They bought the camera; I paid the labor. Book say 2 hours to install(?). $172.00 So, that is what they charged me. I brought it in on a Thursday at 8 AM. No word at Noon, so I snuck around the other side of the building to get into the service bays. Found my car. The left third row seat was out sitting on the floor. Most of the interior panels on the drivers side were out. The middle section section of the dash was out. And, there were some plastic pieces up on the roof. I'm thinking: this does not look good. He already had it 4 hours, and that was just to get it apart! I have no idea how the book came up with 2 hours. I took the shuttle home. Friday afternoon, they sent the shuttle over to pick me up and get me a rental for the weekend. I got the DJ back Tuesday afternoon. You should have seen the look on the techs face when I walked back with my service writer on Friday. I think that he thought that I was about to become unglued! I didn't. I told him just to do the best job that he could. Poor kid! When you get yours, can you take a picture, from inside, of the sunroof so I can see if they changed the overhead console with the sunroof. If I decide to get it, I'll go back to the same place that did my Nitro. They install the same sunroofs that the Factory uses. I haven't worked since April, 2010, sad to say. That was when I got the second fusion in my neck, and the headaches became unbearable/uncontrollable. Horse needles in the back of my head - occipital nerve blocks 4 times a year to keep the headaches at bay, along with epidurals. So, I am disabled - both from the VA and SS. I hate this. I'd rather be working. With Sharon gone, I try to stay busy; but, I still have not accepted the fact that she is not coming back. That blue must have the metallic pearl in it. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a DJ in that color. Funny; I keep noticing Nitros and not DJs. Should be the other way around. I have never seen my Nitro on the road, but it did not sit on the dealer's lot for a week. I was tempted to remove all the stereo stuff, but they upped the trade-in value $1,000 if I left it. They told me it would be easier to sell to some kid! So, I must still be a kid! LOL

I do not believe that there is enough room in the dash for what you are attempting to do. My Alpine Tweeters barely fit, according to the tech. There is slightly more room on the passenger side, than on the drivers side. It is because of the ducts going to the vents at the outside edges of the dash.

Welcome to the forum. I believe that the Crossroad model uses all of the Blacktop black pieces except the mirrors and wheels. You could have a body shop paint your mirrors. You could paint your grill black and just tint your tail lights. As for your wheels, there is a product that you spray on, and it adheres until you want to pull it off. Just tips to save you some $.

KEY FOB SENSOR
dhh3 replied to Tito Mon's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
I agree ^^ with the above post. Does everything else work on the hatch? lights, locks -
As far as I know, it is fully automatic. I do not know what % of torque can be sent to the rear wheels.

Hi Brian. I have been here since around July. Are you trading the Nitro for a DJ like I did? My back was getting so bad I found it harder and harder to climb up into the Nitro, even with the nerf boards. In fact, I just got out of the Hospital with Fusion #4, on L5 and S1. So now, L4,L5, and S1 are tied together with bolts and rods. 22 staples! I think that they come out tomorrow. As for the nitroforumz, I stayed a while because I was a Formal Greeter and in charge of the Veterans getting their banners. I do not know what happened, but all of a sudden I was being deluged with ads. The Forum double charged me for my $40 yearly membership, and I filed a complaint with PayPal. I must have pissed off the powers that be, because I started getting all these ads. So, I just stopped posting. It was fun, even without the Nitro. There is a lot of good guys here and all are very helpful. Since I'm still learning about the DJ, I post when I can offer assistance. Are you thinking of trading your Nitro on a DJ? So far, the only thing I am really beginning to hate is the new Radio. I like the fact that there is a bigger screen, but there is a lot to be desired when compared to the MyGigs. They took out the 30 gig Hard Drive! WTF? You can play music through an iPod (I still can't get it to work right) or a SD card. After 2 months of screwing around with the SD card, I finally got it to work right; but, I have no idea how to add new music to it because of the way I got it to work, without starting all over again. Infuriating! Otherwise, the Nitro can not hold a candle to the DJ. Last spring, as my back got progressively worse, I would start over to the dealer, only to stop and come home. I had a lot of $ invested in the Nitro, that I knew I would never get back. Anyway, at the end of June I finally drove to the Dealer. A salesman jumped on me before I could even get out of the Nitro. I told him that I was looking for a DJ. There was a Chrysler Rep there that day; I immediately qualified for $2000 and with my $500 Military discount, I had $2500. before I even looked at anything. I walked outside and saw this beauty: This is the exact position that I saw it on the lot, all by itself, and I knew that I wanted it! The color is Copperhead Pearl. Someone said it is not available for 2015. It is a Crossroad, a new model for 2014. The salesman pointed out the stitched leather on the door panels. Nice. I got in it, drove it around the lot, and told him I would take it. It is all leather inside; I figured it had to have heated seats. Not to be. Heated seats are now part of Uconnect. The switches are on the screen - soft touch icons. Heated seats can not be added as an accessory. So be careful, and check everything out. I was mesmerized by the color, and it got the best of me. We do have a local Katzkin Dealer in town. I was able to get the driver's seat heated, but not the passenger. Seems that there is some sort of sensor where heat pad can not be added. The passenger seat does flip forward to expose a storage box. Nice and handy. This is the first non-4wd vehicle that I have had in over 20 years. Mine is FWD and is a trooper in the snow. Never got stuck once, even on unplowed roads. I did leave the TC on and let her rip! Members here do seem to have issues with the AWD system, so that choice has to be up to you, living farther North than I do. I may add a sunroof like I did in the Nitro, and my signature lists the things that I have done/want to do in the future, just like on the Nitroforumz. I have the seat all the way up and it is perfect for me and my back. Surgery was 2 weeks ago, and I get to drive again tomorrow. I have gone out in the garage to look at it a few times, but have not sat in it - I'd be too tempted to drive. The R/T comes pretty much loaded, as well as the Limited. The Crossroad is next and then the SXT and the AVP, one for the US and one for Canada. Mine has the Pentastar V6. OMG; this thing has power! If I floor it from a stop, and one front tire is slipping on something, it wants to rip the steering wheel out of my hand! Awesome! Huge 2-piston calipers on the front! Take your time looking, and take the time to make sure that it has everything you want. You can't go wrong. Great talking to you again. Dave

2012 Journey - Factory Wiring found by spare tire - how to use?
dhh3 replied to AaronC's topic in Hauling & Towing
I have a Crossroad. The Mopar hitch listed on the Accessory Site says the hitch will not fit. But, the Mopar hitches on ebay say they fit all models, including the Crossroad. And these listings are all from Mopar Dealers. It might have something to do with the platinum piece on the bottom of my bumper. So, more research, but I don't need the hitch right away.
