Adding automatic headlights
dhh3 replied to pinkshirt's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
Thanks. Once I heal from fusion #4, I'll make this my next project. I wonder what the harness is? -
I use Turtle Wax as You Dry, and bugs do not stick. Rain-X keeps them from sticking to the glass. There are cleaners for the clear coat. Since it just happened, the guts may not have gotten through to the paint.

Adding automatic headlights

I have now been told by two techs working on my car, one to hook up the rear view camera, and one to hook up the underseat sub, that there is a harness hanging down behind the radio. The dealer tech that installed the camera when I purchased the car last summer was hoping that this was for the camera. No luck. He had to run the harness from the camera to the radio. There are a few posts here that say I would not need a harness; just a new sensor and switch. I was under the impression that the harness was taped to the steering column. But, I could be wrong on this. I suppose that I could purchase the correct sensor for auto lights and heat, and see if there is an empty receptacle for another harness. If so, maybe this harness hanging behind the radio is the one. Maybe this harness is the one that runs from the sensor, because it is hanging down from somewhere behind the radio, to the auto switch! That would be nice! The tech that installed my dash speakers said the defroster panel was very easy to pop off. I could switch the sensor myself, try and pull this harness up, if needed, change out the switch and add have my dealer add the code. Does this seem logical? -
Changing station automaticly

Are you sure that you are not inadvertently hitting one of the switches behind the steering wheel? I do and it pisses me off until I figure out what just happened. Wouldn't bother me if I didn't have them! -
I believe that the 4.0 in the Nitro was based off of the 3.5. Odd design, I always thought. 24v but only SOHC, not DOHC like most multi-valve engines. You have proven me wrong. I like the looks of the instruments. Were these only in the 300M?

Uconnect/iPhone issues
dhh3 replied to Normagal's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Yes. I bought it at Best Buy. The Brand Name is Insignia. It also comes with a pad to sit on top of the dash, but that did not work very well. It clips on to the center vents and swivels so the phone can be portrait or landscape. I use landscape because it is more like a GPS. I also have a RealTree OtterBox on the phone and it still fits tight. I also bought an USB adaptor for the plug under the dash, so I can use a shorter USB cord. The first adaptor I bought would not work because it was too long. I found a shorter black one with a on/off light on it and it fit. Weird. Also, both at Best Buy. Now I know that plugging the phone into the USB does more than just charge the phone! Thank you for that. My last phone was a 5s, 64 gig with most of my music on it; played flawlessly. When I upgraded to iOS8, music went to he**. All I had was a list of songs, with no way to control them on the radio. So, my 6 is 16 gig, and I searched hi and low for an iPod with iOS7. Finally found one on ebay, but I'm having the same issues with the music. I copied my entire iTunes library into a folder in my music folder on my PC. Then, I copied this folder onto a SD card. Same problem. I looked at all of the folders on the SD card, within the iTunes folder, and found one folder with just code on it. I removed it from the card and now the card works like the iPod should. They only problem is that any new album/song off of iTunes will not display art - only the generic music keys. I'm getting there. I'll just use the iPod in my hot tub, with a wireless waterproof speaker that I saw in Best Buy two weeks ago! No loss, I guess! LOL -
Someone stole my Sirius signal

Someone tried to use my PayPal out in Denver. PayPal immediately froze my account, and called me to see where I was. When ever I use PayPal now, they text my cell to allow the transaction to proceed! -

Uconnect/iPhone issues
dhh3 replied to Normagal's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Which phone and iOS do you have? I am the member using my iPhone6 for Navigation, iOS8.2. I just connect via Bluetooth and it works. But, I do also connect it to the powered USB port in the console. I do this to keep the battery charging, because once I have my trip entered, the phone stays on until I arrive at my destination. I believe that it is using the Bluetooth to break into the radio to call out directions, just as it would with a phone call. I'm thinking that the USB connection is just charging the phone. I have never tried Siri in the car; so, I can not comment on that. I also have the non-Nav 8.4, but I would trade it for a MyGig in a heartbeat! Presently, Uconnect only supports up to iOS7.1. So, this is your dealer's excuse not to get you a new Uconnect module. I can add that it took me 3 or 4 tries to get the phone to connect. The phone came with 8.1, and I just upgraded to 8.2 and it still works. But, the music does not work correctly. I'll have to wait for the update for that. -

If you don't use the harness that terminates at the spare tire, you will not have the built in anti-sway electronics. -

Look and see if the harness that terminates between the back of the spare and the bumper is there. This is the trailer wire harness. I have this and the oil cooler and have been told I can get the code added to mine. When I am ready, I am going to let my Dealer install my hitch. More expensive, but no headaches! -

Or, disconnect to negative terminal on your battery for 15 minutes or so to reset the system. Do you have any buttons on your steering wheel? If not, it could be the clockspring. This is the metal piece inside the steering wheels that keeps electrical contact when you turn the wheel. -
Well then, if it is not a minivan, what the heck is it? I read where Chrysler is getting a small and mid size X-over, and only Chrysler gets the minivan.
-
I didn't realize that there were 9 pictures. Well, I guess they have a lot to work to do if Sir Sergio still wants to dump the Caravan If they only keep the Chrysler, there could be 3 trim levels: Voyager, Caravan, T&C!
-
The The one on the fender! Ha

I would think that it would be the Chrysler T&C, since the Dodge Caravan is going to be dropped. Rear view mirror is kind of odd, IMHO.

4.3/rha uconnect problems
dhh3 replied to Robbywankanobi's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
Therein lies the problem: you said most. On the MyGig, it was ALL! On my SD card, the only artwork that does not display, so far, are new CD's purchased from the iTunes Store. I'll have to play 1 song form each album just to find out what works and what doesn't. It should NOT be this way.- 18 replies
