journey door/map pocket light switch
dhh3 replied to pfswilley's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I read the manual on his other thread that is now locked. Now, it appears that not only do I not have map pocket lights, I don't have door handle lights either! The only difference it that is on the middle of Page 30. -
2015 8.4A/RE2 Favorite Song Popup
dhh3 replied to kmcbrid's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
The mygigs were 1,000 times better than what they are passing off now! I could not believe they got rid of the 30 gig HD, and added that stupid SD slot. I loaded my music on an SD card, and the songs are in a list, alphabetical by the Name of the Album. The Name of the Album is not listed unless you push the information soft key. And what if it is the same song by two different artists? It is not my idea of something safe to be doing while driving; looking for a song. When I listen to Sirius, Favorite Artist with the flag pops all the time, and most are not ones that I have chosen! BRING BACK THE MYGIGS! -
2.7L Engine for Export - Brazil - Is it E85?
dhh3 replied to Victor Joseph's topic in Engine & Transmission
As stated, there is nothing external. Just the Yellow Gas Cap that says E85 on it (I have the V6). This is the first vehicle that I have ever had that has a yellow gas cap. There is only one station around here that sells E85, and it is too far away for me to even considering using it. -
No, parked in my garage with the push-to-start button on ACC.

Adding automatic headlights
dhh3 replied to pinkshirt's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I have Auto heat. So what you are saying I would need the third sensor listed and the switch. If I can figure out how to get the harness that is strapped to the steering column up to the bobble on the dash, I would plug the sensor into the bubble, and then the harness into the sensor. Then change the switch, and have my Dealer add the LMG code. Sounds easy enough. My Dealer quoted be around 2 grand in labor, saying something to the effect of having to take out most of the dash to do this. I'll see if I can figure it out. The defroster cover does not appear to be under the A pillar trim -
Mine is showing the beginning of wear marks, but not cracks. I'll let it go for a while and see what happens. I have all sorts of leather cleaned/softener that I use, but I'll wait for some warm air from the South to head North.

Thank you for responding. I probably tried 1/2 dozen times. Uconnect came up once. I selected it, and it started spinning. Nothing. Waited about 1/2 hour, tried again and it paired immediately. ????????????????????????

Has anyone had trouble connecting their iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3, to Uconnect? I started pairing, and Uconnect came up 1 time. Now I keep getting a green box: FEATURE NOT AVAILABLE WHILE DRIVING.

journey door/map pocket light switch
dhh3 replied to pfswilley's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I do not have map pocket lights. I do have lights mounted on the bottom of the doors: I guess these are puddle lights. -
It's when it is raining, but beginning to turn to snow. The air in the clouds is below freezing, but the air below the clouds is above freezing. It happens when Mother Nature is trying to get her s**t together. BTW, you should see the color of the cars around here when they start mixing beet juice with the salt!

I had a 1984 Buick Skylark T-Type that did the same thing. It would start bucking when the AC condensor engaged. No fix for this. Either the condensor was too big, or the engine was too small. As long as I didn't use AC or DEF, no bucking. Infuriating.
-
All of this indicates to me that the transmission is programmed to lock up too early. When it starts bucking, put it in 5. The transmission will unlock, and downshift to 5. Drive it in 5, all the up to 55 and see if the bucking is gone. If the bucking is gone, you solved your problem. The speed at which the transmission lock is speed dependant, and it appears to me that your speed is set too low. Starscan can set the speed, and the dealer that already screwed you should do this for you, for free. If this does not work for you, I'm stumped and you may throw an egg on my face.

Adding automatic headlights
dhh3 replied to pinkshirt's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
Yes, I have this. Now, some one please tell me how they removed the defroster cover which includes this little UFO looking thing! -
I washed mine today, and as soon as I got home it started snowing - really white rain!

2014 SXT FWD suspention upgrade to RT
dhh3 replied to MacGyver's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
I would say tighter springs over stock for the Crossroad, and thicker sway bars for the R/T. Just guessing. I have 4 springs listed on the option side of the build sheet. This tells me that at least the springs are different over stock. Mine doesn't mention the sway bars. Maybe someone with an R/T can post what his build sheet says. Maybe there are 3 sets of springs: stock, harder, and hardest! -
Welcome to the forum x2. The color may be Copperhead Pearl. I love my color, by I understand it was discontinued for 2015.

How did you pop the defroster cover off? If I can get this cover off, maybe I can get a coat hanger down to the steering column, tape the harness to it and pull it up to the sensor. My Dealer wants $2,000 for labor, but maybe my way might work. Hopefully, my sensor has the recepticle to plug the harness into. -

I was told that the bump is the sensor. The problem/labor cost is getting the harness already installed, taped to the steering column, up to and plugged into into the sensor. How does the defroster cover come off? Maybe I can do the harness by myself, buy the switch and have them activate to code.LMG. -
I believe the the LED bulbs are soldered to the circuit boards. There is a bad solder/connection that opens/closes when you tap it.

Boy, the more I read about AWD, the more satisfied I am without it. What good is it, if going up a slippery hill, goes into AWD, the light comes on and your back to FWD? Going up the hill, would you have to shut the engine off to have AWD again? It was posted that light would not be on the next day. A couple of years ago, Car and Driver did a test of Suvs. They were on the sand dunes in Western Michigan. The Durango ended up pulling all of the others out, when their clutch packs or whatever, overheated and made the AWD system unusable!

2014 SXT FWD suspention upgrade to RT
dhh3 replied to MacGyver's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
I have the Touring Suspension as well. On the option part of the build sheet, it lists 4 springs. So higher strength springs make it Touring. I would guess that the R/T would add thicker sway bars. -
They were not HID proj As you say, they were not HID projectors. Some idiots on ebay were trying to sell these along with a set of HIDs. No go. The projector housings were not designed for HIDs. I do not understand the reasoning of blinding on coming traffic! They had a projector low beam, larger high beam and halos around both. And, they were plug and play

Looks good. Can't be done today with 12" of snow and 9 degrees! I will have to wait for a few days, at least to get the salt off.

The traction control simulates an ELSD (Electronic Limited Slip Differential). The way it works is that it softly applies the brake to the wheel that is spinning and then sends 100% torque to the wheel that is not slipping. I very rarely turn mine off. If the snow was deep enough, like soft sand, this would be the major reason to turn it off. And, when you push the button, it does not actually go completely off; the reaction time just slows down.
