Potential 2012 Journey owner w/ some questions!
dhh3 replied to Yossef Maga's topic in Owner Impressions
It is very easy to see the huge calipers through the wheel holes in the front. If what you are looking at is an early issue 2012, give this some thought. -
When it is time, I'll let them hook it up to the flush machine. I've had my DJ since the end of June, with only 3,400 miles; I'll probably never have to do it. I'm curious to see what the replacement will be.

1. I joined the DJ forum after I purchased my DJ. In fact, I stayed on the Nitro forum for a few months after I traded my Nitro because I was a Member Relations Manager, in Charge of those getting the Armed Forces Ribbon next to their Avatar, and I was a Forum Supporter. It was hard to leave that awesome forum. After I brought the DJ home, I had to search to see if there even was a forum for the DJ! And, very happy to be here. I did not know much about the DJ when I purchased it; it is 10x better than the Nitro could ever be. The two small seats in back do come in handy. And the Forum has been a God send! Thank all of you! 2. I will never own a Government Motors Vehicle again. 3. I hate the looks all of the Ford CUVs, and would never own a full size SUV. The new Lincolns are nice, but I'm not a Lincoln kind of guy. I need to sit high because of my back: one fusion so far, with another ruptured disc + 2 fusions in my neck. 4. I trust Mopar. I traded my Nitro, because it was getting too painful for me to get in and out of it. I was looking for a Cherokee Trailhawk, but a similarly equipped DJ was $5,000 less; and a lot more vehicle for the same money. 5. The only foreign vehicle that I might consider would be a Subaru WRX STi, but I doubt that I could get in it! Blue with Gold Wheels!

I highly doubt if Mopar would make that available to anyone. -
Welcome to the forum. I envy you because the CRD is not available in The States

They are 5 Star Dealer. I bought my Commander there, as well as all my cars. With the rates posted on the wall for a flush, I asked the Service Manager about this. I showed him where it was in the manual. His response was, "You can not believe everything that you read"!. Really?................................. There are so many people who never read their manual. Now, we finally know why! LOL

You will have to be a little more clear on what you are asking for. -
The owners manual of my 2006 Jeep Commander said no flushes on anything, but my Dealer overlooks this fact on every car they service. Remember, if the flush causes any issues, it is on their dime. The flush will definitely open everything up, but could cause issues with o-rings or gaskets. A good friend of mine works on transmissions; this is all the work that he does. And, he will drain the torque converter even if it requires the removal of the transmission. If you know someone with a lift, get it up in the air and loosen the drain bolt. This will give you an overall condition of the fluid. If it flows, you can probably get by with just draining it. But if it is like tar, well you get the picture.

Do not allude to fact that you are paying with cash. Squeeze them until they cry. Then let them know it is cash. You may be surprised what comes next! -

There may be air bags in the A pillars. I had no idea until I popped the plastic trim off the A pillar on my Nitro to replace the dash speakers. There, nicely tucked in, was an air bag! Should have taken a selfie! Disconnect the neg terminal on your battery and wait a while for all the capacitors to power down! -
I would start by changing the transmission fluid. Do a flush to get the old fluid out of the torque converter. If you just drain, there is still old fluid left inside. Then hook it up to a laptop (StarScan) and see what the lock up speed is set to. 35 - 40 would be reasonable, but just changing the fluid may solve the issue. A flush will clean out all the ports, etc. but it sounds like you already know this stuff. Good luck.

I'm going to take a drive to my Dealer today, and see what my Service Writer has to say about this now. I'll keep you guys posted. EDIT. I just called my Dealer. The Service Writer had to look in 2 areas to find the LMK Sales Code. It is under Dealer Installed Items. He found it listed for my VIN. They will attempt to turn it on, on Monday Jan. 26 @ 1 PM. He is going to put it through under warranty. I will let you know what happens.

My warranty gives me free oil changes and tire rotations every 4,250 miles. I'm sittin at 3,300 so I have a way to go. I do not know how they came up with that weird number.

09 R/T vs 12 SXT
dhh3 replied to Blount35121's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
Welcome to the forum. I'd choose the Pentastar V6 over the weird style of the 3.5 V6. It has 24 valves, but is only SOHC. All mutivalve engines are DOHC. I'm nor sure why they would do this, other than to make the engine more narrow. -
I do not know why mechanics can not do their job. Dirty Throttle Body? Run some good (STP, Chevron) fuel line/injector cleaner because you now know it is not the plugs. This may take a few tank fulls, depending how dirty your fuel system is. Wrong plugs can allow carbon to build up. You stated that this goes away after about 50 mph. I still think that the transmission is locking up too soon. I would have them check this setting, also. How bad does it get when you are running the AC (draining power from the engine)?

I really do not think there is enough room for one, but I could be wrong. Still wonder what's lurking under that big piece of plastic.

Welcome to the forum. What are the odds of finding a new 2013 when they are already sell 2016s?

Then lets hope that the new DJ was not based on the Dart like the 200 was.
