Are you positive the clutch is engaged? It might look like it is because the pulley always spins. If you look at the front of the compressor and it’s not turning the clutch is not engaged. Please don’t be offended, not sure how familiar you are with the ac system is all.....?

Can you put it in N, restart it, and go to D? Does it die every time you put it in D? my 09 had an issue with stalling going from R to D, but only in the colder weather. Dealer ended up replacing intake plenum...

Need some more info: which engine? AWD or FWD? Mileage? Exactly what lights are on? Is the check engine light flashing or on steady? Does it restart once you put it in park? Was it in an accident? If you don’t wait 5 mins does it run? Were you having any other issues before? If you answer those that might be a good starting point....

2010 dodge journey inside fuse panel
OhareFred replied to Coopsrhere's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I have an 09 RT. Passenger side, under the glovebox near the right kick panel. I don’t recall if it’s got a cover on it(I think it does) so it looks like a black box. Not sure what Amp your seeing, but I thought the amp was under the drivers seat, but I don’t have the premium sound system so it might be different.... -
Read above..that’s what I was responding to, not the disconnect the cable while the car is running comment, which I agree, not a good move in a modern car...?

You don’t have to remove the battery to test it. You can test from the jump start points. On my tester there is an option for testing in the car...

Non communication with door module with a twist
OhareFred replied to Tony Hall's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I can make up some bs for you if that will make you happy, but I never had the issue, and haven’t heard about that particular issue so can’t say for sure. I’d imagine if you removed the kick panel you might see some screws or something. Maybe try cleaning the connector with some sandpaper and try stuffing it back in, see if something awakens, IDK -
Make sure you wear gloves while your releasing pressure. personally I don’t think it’s over pressurized, unless you somehow added a ton of Freon. The ac recharge kits you get at auto parts stores will read zero, then high when you squeeze the trigger if they aren’t opening the valve. They are designed that way so you can’t put the wrong Freon in the system. Are you sure you got the right type? I’ve had hit and miss success with them in the past. If your system is empty, repair shops are not legally allowed just to refill it, the leak must be repaired. If your low/empty you have a leak, Freon doesn’t get used up. It’s one thing to check voltage, connections, etc. but when you start messing with Freon you really should leave it to the pros. You can get injured messing around with it.

The AutoZone guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Car running will tell you if the alternator is good, producing a charge and what voltage to the battery (should be around 14-14.5 volts). To test the battery the car MUST be off, surface charge removed (turn headlights on for 10 seconds) then use an electronic tester (not the old carbon pile) to do a load test. A good battery will have 12.5 volts and also pass the load test. Go to a different place and have it tested properly.

You can’t test a battery when the car is running. All you will see is alternator voltage.

Wont start after head gasket replacement
OhareFred replied to Borjawil's topic in Engine & Transmission
Are you sure the parts store gave you the correct gaskets? Maybe get a new set from another store to double check. If they aren’t the same I’d go back to the first store and raise hell....good luck, please keep us in the loop..... -
Rear Power Window not working
OhareFred replied to Mark Jones's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Wires in the drivers door, check the wires at the affected door, then possibly the window motor Is bad -
Wont start after head gasket replacement

If you fixed the timing why would it be unwise to try it? Double check all you timing marks and give it a try.... -
Rear windows stopped working
OhareFred replied to James2394's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
There is a module for the drivers door switch panel. Not sure if it’s in the door or kick panel. Has been discussed here before. Maybe try a search or someone else will chime in. Just because part works doesn’t mean the wires or module isn’t bad..... -
Rear windows stopped working
OhareFred replied to James2394's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I’d start by checking the wire loom in the drivers door. Are you talking about the rear windows not working from any switch or just the drivers door? -
Are my rear struts self-levelling????
OhareFred replied to Raythecaddie's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
I have an 09 RT with the factory RT struts. AFAIK self leveling struts have an air system attached to them. I don’t believe the DJ had that. Why don’t you get the factory part number from the dealer and get the ones that A:fit and B: the brand you want. -
Are my rear struts self-levelling????
OhareFred replied to Raythecaddie's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Didn’t think that was an option, but I’ve been wrong before... -
Are you the original owner? I know my 09 came with a lifetime power train warranty, not sure if the 10 did. Might be worth checking, new engine will set you back a few grand, unless you roll the dice and get one from a junk yard.
-
Sorry, thought you were pressing the round volume knob or some other button. you could try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 45 mins or so. A lot of weird issues with the DJ get resolved by trying this. Otherwise I’d say the radio is broken. If that’s the case I’d go aftermarket. I put a Kenwood with hands free CarPlay and phone for around $600, but I do not have the rear seat dvd screen. if you do get it to open, the video will play in back while driving. let us know how it goes.

Help Coolant leak + Engine nock+ engine light
OhareFred replied to Patientpilot's topic in Engine & Transmission
Fix it or dump it and quit complaining about a used car that you aren’t properly maintaining (I drive around with oil because the oil cooler leaks, rather then fix it) -
2011 Dodge Journey Mainstreet Not Shifting Correctly
OhareFred replied to ALLIEM's topic in Engine & Transmission
WAAAYYYY too late for lemon law. Lemon law a used 9 year old car? No chance. You get what you get when you buy uncertified used from a corner lot. If you want the lights to go off, replace the airbag. No other way around that one.As far as everything else, either fix it or take the hit when you dump the car. Not a lot of choices here.
