Used 2018 buy now or wait
OhareFred replied to Houck54's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Competing Products
I say if the ride you want is available in your price range, grab it. You could wait, taking the chance the car you want won’t be available. If it were me, I’d rather have a car I want then a good deal on something that I’m just “OK” with, but I also don’t have 4 kids either. Only you can decide. good luck.... -
Try switching bulbs with the passenger side. Maybe the bulb has a piece of uncut flashing or something on it. If the problem moves you know what the issue is. No issues when I changed mine to HID bulbs. Both slid in no problem, although the drivers side is a bitch....

Can't Unlock Maps
OhareFred replied to lanc747's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
And i agree with him, just thought his rant was a bit much. This obviously is a known problem with Dodges. My Jeep Nav works fine. But rather than fix it they dump it on the consumer. When you buy something it’s expected to work all the time, not when it wants. I would expect Dodge to keep fixing it till they got it right, not until my warranty was up, but no, they want you to pay twice for the same item. It’s not like your nav gets used up, like tires or brakes.... -
It the ETC light is still on, something is wrong with the ETC. Changing the battery, since it was the original, was a good place to start, but if the light still comes on you have an issue. What codes are coming up?

Roof mount DVD player with sunroof
OhareFred replied to blissman20's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
There was much discussion on this in the past. Try a forum search but.... To install a roof mount you need to remove the headliner, then install support brackets, replace the rear heat/AC controls(I think) with a different style. then run wires/cables from the radio to the unit. As I recall the consensus was go with the headrest mount. Good luck.... -
More info would be helpful. Engine, exactly what do you mean by no power? Does the dash light up? Headlights work? Etc. From the info you gave us, I would say check your battery cables. Might have come lose...

No issues with my 09 mounts...

I have an 09, which I got in 08, and none have broken....

It’s a CLOSED SYSTEM. THE FLUID DOESNT GET USED UP. If your fluid disappears and you get air in the system, where did the fluid go? How are bigger breaks going to fix this issue? YOU HAVE A LEAK. Take it somewhere where they know what they are doing, like the dealer. And for what it’s worth, @Summer Solstice Is not the dummy here.

I’m beginning to wonder if this is real. I mean come on.....

That makes more sense. When you were saying codes, which is a series of letters and numbers you get with a code reader, but nothing on your code reader it didn’t add up. Obviously a major electrical issue, perhaps the BCM or PCM. Both are expensive. Let us know what it turns out to be.....

Whoever is giving you mechanical advice is trying to screw you. RUN to a new, competent mechanic. The person you are going to is either a lying thief, thinks you are gullible, or has absolutely no clue about repairing cars. My feeling is all 3!
-
If nothing is showing up on a code reader, what “ codes” are showing? What are the “code” numbers?
-
Aliens are abducting the responses!!

It could be. Didn’t AutoZone check the battery when they checked the alternator? Cars now a days are very picky when it comes to electrical issues. Could also be a loose connection. Have all recalls been done? Do you have an owners page at Mopar.com? If not make one, put in your vin, and you’ll see if anything is outstanding...

Big brake kit to repace crappy OE brakes?
OhareFred replied to biturbo's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
When you buy used you have to expect problems, especially with a 9-10 year old car. I have an 09. Nothing like that EVER happened with mine. Pads wear quick? Yep, but not since I switched to ceramic pads. Your issue has nothing to do with fast pad wear. Obviously who ever “looked” at it did so from their chair. I can guess from my living room in Chicago that you have a leak in a line, bad master cylinder, blown caliper or some other leak. Take it somewhere with a real mechanic. -
Are you asking or describing an issue? Need some info...

What an ass......maybe have someone explain it to you if you don’t understand English, or use a translate program.
