Factory fill level of 62TE transmission seems high
OhareFred replied to Jeff T's topic in Engine & Transmission
That’s why I had the dealer do mine at 55k miles. WAAAAYYYY to much measuring/checking/remeasuring for me. Gone are the days of pulling the trans dipstick and getting a level. I agree you need to be as accurate as possible as overfilling is worse then under filled. I thought there was a special dipstick for the trans the dealers use, maybe you can buy one of those? -
A TSB is NOT a recall. Recalls are mandatory repairs to be made by the dealer atno coast to you TSB are Technical Service Bulletins that refer to a common complaint. These repairs are only made if you complain, are not free unless you are under warranty. A TSB will not show up under a recall list

Go to Mopar.com, to the owners page, make an account and put in your vin. You will then have access to see what dealer repairs were made, what warranty you have, etc. very useful when you deal with a crappy dealer. It will also help you find the closest dealers....pick a new one. Good luck!

Bluetooth ringer SOOO LOUD
OhareFred replied to Bcollier199's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
I noticed the same thing. you have a few options: A: use a different ringtone B: turn the volume down until you are talking, then turn it up. Turn it back down when you are done. C: try turning the ringer volume down on your phone, it should not affect the volume while talking. Thats all I got for ya. good luck! -

something is seriously wrong
OhareFred replied to tjboston5676's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I’ve been working on cars and electric since I was 15 (right after the dinosaurs died) and never heard of that! As as far as the drain goes, I will assume you checked the normal things like key fob too close, glove box light on, delay head lamps not shutting off light. I know it sound stupid with your battery draining but try DISCONNECTING it for an hour (longer if you have the time) to try and reset all the computers. If that doesn’t work you’ll need to get a meter and pull fuses one at a time to narrow it down.... Wasnt there an issue with the radio not shutting down? I recall something about the BCM causing the battery to drain as well...... -
Torque converter has nothing to do with starting your car. It takes the running engine and uses that to run your transmission (simplified version). The fly wheel, or flex plate, gets turned by the starter which causes your cranks shaft, cam shaft, etc to turn and the engineand then it starts (again, simplified version). If the starter is turning the fly wheel and the belt and pulleys do not move, something is broken between flywheel and pulleys at the front of the engine.

Then I agree with larryl, you have big time engine issues. Tow it to either the dealer or a mechanic.

Is this a diesel with a manual trans? how about some car info,,Year, motor, trans, miles....

Nothing to do with your torque converter or your battery. Most likely the problem is your starter. The gear is not engaging your flywheel. Could be installed with too many shims or is defective. The other problem could be your flywheel gearing is stripped. Start with the starter.....yes, a new starter could be bad...

It’s up to about $2.899 a gallon at COSTCO as of the 25th of April. Likely a bit more by today. That’s in a Chicago suburb, Niles IL ( about 500 feet out of the Chicago city limits).....

Who did the rotors and pads? Take it back to them and have them check it out. There could be any number of issues there. Dirt, sticking caliper, pads not sliding, etc. If you are not under warranty the dealer will charge you through the nose for brakes. Aftermarket brakes, I find, are always cheaper and usually better. I use ceramic brake pads, although a lot of people use semi-metallic. Either are fine if the job is done completely. let us know what they find!

And that’s why I buy extended warranties...... sucks but you either fix it or dump it. If you trade it in not fixed you won’t get sh1t for it. Fix what you absolutely have to and dump it.

Did you check the wheel bearing? if there is no pulling when breaking check the bearing, could be loose....

I must have a defect! I only got 83k miles out of mine! I’m going lemon law!

Batteries have been put in odd locations for years. Chrysler chose in front of the drivers wheel. GM has them under the rear seat inside the car. I live in Chicago, where during the winter there is more salt then snow, and the battery tray on my 04 Sebring is fine, as is the battery tray on my 09 Journey. I do inspect my cars when I do brakes, etc. every few years but I don’t lose sleep over it. If it falls out due to a defect, sue them. No different then any other part of the car. Just my 2 cents....

Has Maxcare Delivered A ROI For You?
OhareFred replied to Summer Solstice's topic in Maintenance & D.Y.I.
Funny, real funny! actually it’s BECAUSE of all those repairs I got the Cherokee. Was all set to get a Tucson but my CJDR Dealer kept giving me their Jeep loaners every time I went in for service! Fell in love with the Cherokee, I know their service department is top notch, and I KNOW the warranty works! LMAO! -
Has Maxcare Delivered A ROI For You?
OhareFred replied to Summer Solstice's topic in Maintenance & D.Y.I.
On my 09 I’ve made out like a bandit by having my MaxCare Lifetime Warranty. I have the $100 deductible. I paid about $1800 for it in 09. I’ve had the rear suspension replaced (struts, springs, etc), starter, AC condenser, front struts/springs, radiator recovery tank, thermostat, heater hose , blower motor all replaced under the warranty. The rear suspension work was $1300 by itself! The heater hose assembly was $550. I got either a loaner or free rental each time. There are a few more minor fixes too, but I think it’s well worth it. Never had an issue getting anything covered. Pull in, they fix it, pay my $100 and I’m out the door. i just bought a 2018 Jeep Cherokee and got the same warranty on it, although I bought it online for about $700 less then my dealers best price ($3400 vs $2700 on line) -
A TON of discussion and different results on the forum. Search dead battery and a lot of information will come up. The issue sue has been tied from everything from loose connections at the battery, a bad wire on the alternator to the BCM. BTW it sounds like your dealer sucks. Is there another you could go to?
