Discussed a ton of times on the forum. Coast varies depending on what your starting with. Then there is the map upgrades which are NOT free and are usually 18 months behind everything else. Then you may lose some control of some things, and you need to go to the dealer to have a code added, which may or may not be free. a lot of people just opt for a Garmin/TomTom portable unit with lifetime maps and traffic.

Glad you found it! Didn’t know you had the towing package and trailer hookup. -
2014 4.3 uconnect

The screen is one part, the radio receiver is a second part if I am not mistaken. If your screen is cracked, that’s all you replace. -

My MaxCare Lifetime ,$100 deductible for my 2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus was $2715 from Clay a month ago. Not sure what the DJ is going for You have 3 years, 36,000 miles to buy one, but the longer you wait the more you pay. I believe if you buy in the first year,12k the upcharge is pretty small.....check for yourself

Another thing came to mind. If you are looking for an extended warranty shop around. You can get them over the Internet. Exact same Mopar warranty your dealer sells. I just bought a Jeep and got my MaxCare Lifetime Warranty from Clay ar Robbins motors. First rate guy. Was $700 cheaper then my dealer (who wouldn’t match his price). Try him at clay@robbinsmotors.com. Very upfront, will answer your questions. if you haven’t done so already make an account on Mopar.com. You will see all kinds of things about your Journey including recalls, owners booklet, repairs, etc. Welcome!

If you have the 8.4 inch UConnect (C3 radio) you can activate the Nav yourself for about $300. see www.factoryradioparts.com step by step instructions, no trip to the dealer. I think they have a $10 off deal going now.... only difference between the C4 Nav radio & this is you don’t get traffic or 1 step destination.

09 dodge journey
OhareFred replied to Rob S's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
If its turning over but won’t start it has NOTHING to do with the key fob. I that’s like saying the car turns over and won’t start, could it be the key. It could be any number of issues, fuel pump, BCM, coil, just about anything. If you drove it after the repairs I doubt it has anything to do with that, but have it towed back to that shop, see what they say. Let us know. -

I don’t understand why you got upset. You gave your problems, you had a plan, did you think we could talk you through it here? You stated you didn’t mind doing the work, and the suggestion of starting with the module is completely correct. If you don’t want to take the chance that’s not it, not much else you can do other then 1:rebuild the transmission , which you state you are not qualified to do, or 2: replace the transmission , hard work, possibly needs special tools, but you will save some money 3: take it to a trans shop or dealer and let a pro do it. Costs more but will have a warranty. Since you don’t give a location we cannot suggest where to take it. You can try looking on UTube for a video on what’s involved, then you can make an informed decision, however we cannot diagnose, or repair, your transmission for you on a forum. Best of luck whichever way you decide to go!

“My heater core is under warranty but my main garage won't do it since they have to tear the dash appart and it's too big for them. And I need my car for carrying kids and wife.” check out UTube, shows shortcuts so you don’t have to remove the dash. It’s going to only get worse and will need to be done. If its its under warranty, why not take it to the dealer?

Battery problems - hopefully a fix
OhareFred replied to tjboston5676's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Only issue I’ve had is replacing the battery after 4 years. Never had a no start. I haven’t changed a wire yet, or fuse for that matter. I think part of the problem is batteries just don’t last like they used to because of all the electronics and constant drain on the system, not so much because of the wires . that being said, I’m glad you found a solution to your problem. Nothing more frustrating then getting in your car to go somewhere and end up being stuck! -
09 dodge journey
OhareFred replied to Rob S's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs, Locks & Remote Start
Did you have the ignition recall done? Are you sure the battery is in correctly? You may need to reprogram the fob, directions on how to do it can be found in the owners manual ( mine isn’t handy or I’d look it up). All you need is one working fob. If none are working you may need to get to the dealer. let us know! -
The dealer handles software issue, but if its been working since 09 I doubt its software. More then likely the heater core. Check out tube for a few great shortcuts.
