2009 Journey 2.4 ALTERNATOR OVERHEATING
OhareFred replied to Dennis's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
In the old days I would look for a voltage regulator. I think the voltage regulater is built in to the BCM....Something is calling for max amps all the time. Might be a short somewhere as well. I know, not much help here. Maybe Journyman will see this and have better information for you. -
Uconnect 4.3 Updates?
OhareFred replied to KyMoparMike's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
There is no update because Dodge and Uconnect dont care, we already bought the car. I have an Iphone 7 running 10.2.1 and it works in my 09 fine. Phone calls anyway. Texting never worked. Google maps will call out the directions if I set it to use BT like a phone call. it is what it is..... -
Does it trip any codes? Sounds like the dash cluster or bcm....

OhareFred replied to Michael Debnath's topic in Engine & Transmission
No diesels in the USA or Canada. Dont know anything about them, sorry. Maybe another member from the UK will chime in. -
If you are talking about the lifetime powertrain warranty the 09's have it is only good for the original owner.

2011 journey mainstreet rear brake job
OhareFred replied to patelajit's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
I changed to Ceramic and will never go back. Lasting way longer then I thought, close to 40k and plenty left on the pads. -
Youll need load resisters or you will get a rapid flash

It should the newer the car the more need for can bus
-
Well, if you opened the cover for the cargo light and saw a 212-2, which is what is in my 09, get that type (a festoon I believe). On a 2016 I would go Canbus

Its new. You have a warranty. Use it, I wouldn't waste my time diagnosing for them, half the time they argue with you anyway, thats what they get paid for. But thats me...lol -
The 09 has a lifetime powertrain warranty to the original owner IF it has been taken in every 5 years for a dealer "inspection"
-
I would have it checked. My 09 with a 6 has never gone past half way, even driving through the desert...

2011 dodge journey r/t on/off dash lights while driving
OhareFred replied to wearzy's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Its not that hard. Yes, its behind the left front wheel. When I did mine I took the tire off, popped the inner panel off, disconnected the battery ( a little tight but not horrific) and putit all back together in about 30 mins. FYI most auto parts stores wont do it- 31 replies

Rear brake calipers don't work with hand brake
OhareFred replied to journey325's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
The pistons move when you apply the brakes, but not the parking brake? I would start looking at the cables. Something may have broken off and the cable is not connected to the rear brakes anymore.
