Dead Battery 2015 Dodge Journey
OhareFred replied to trooper's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
There are a couple TSB's for battery drain on the DJ. Go to your dealer and see if they were done ( not sure if you cancheck yourself). Not sure, but I think a TSB is done for free (but again, not positive about that). -
Sorry you were offended. Shit happens, thats why we have insurance. Your high deductable is your choice, myself, my deductable is $250. Yes I may pay more, but if something like this happens its not that big a hit. I really am sorry if you were offended, I'm sure the OP didnt mean it to be nasty.

Rear wiper blade
OhareFred replied to bfurth's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I get Goodyear blades from Costco for mine. Last about 8 months and are 4.99 when they are on sale. Work great. As for the rear, I just went to AutoZone and got one there. Working fine for almost two years, no issue with lifting, etc. Dont have a clue what brand though. Obviously I dont use the rear wiper that much..... -
DJ2012 BatteryModel or Brand??
OhareFred replied to Dodgejourney12's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Go to autozone, pepboys, etc. give them your year and mosel they'll give you one that fits. I bought mine from autozone(Duralast brand) and it was around $150 US. The battery is in front or the drivers side front wheel but not a big job. -
The timing belt should have been changed around 100,000 miles also. While you are changing the timing chain, might want to replace the water pump while your in there. 100,000 miles is an expensive maintiance milage mark. Plugs, timing belt/chain, water pump. Likely around $1,500.00 US $. If you take it to a shop. Must remove intake manifold to change the plugs. The water pump is internal, so you may as well swap it while your in there changing the timing belt/chain...,,.

12v outlets only work with accessory?
OhareFred replied to Mrgixxer6's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
On my 09, the outlet with the battery on it is always live, the one with the key on it is on in accessary or with the care running. I think the one in the back of the center council is always live. The one (s) with the battery should always be live.... -
My 09 RT battery lasted exactly 37000 miles and about 4 years. On the other hand, the battery in my wifes 04 Sebring lasted until last year and about 100 K miles. It was still good but I changed it anyway! Go figure. I used a battery from Auto Zone (Duralast) was about $150 USD but has a 6 year guarntee, bla bla bla. Its in front of the drivers tire, but not that bad to change. I agree with you, if its just the battery I wouldnt go to the dealer, but if its the charging system, take it to the dealer for sure. Good luck!

No fuse message 09 Dodge Journey
OhareFred replied to kawasakikid's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Try disconecting the battery for about 30 mins. If everything seems correct, maybe that will do it.....works for alot of things on the DJ. -
3.6 Crankshaft position sensor 05149167AE connection

Agreed, match the wire colors up with the other end. I would solder and shrink tube each wire on the repair. -
A once very proud and vocal owner, now wondering.

Good luck. Don't think you'll get any help from FCA.... -
Accident now car won't start
OhareFred replied to Starwatcher1979's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
My bad. Your insurance will go after them, still no reason to go nuts. Lol -
Accident now car won't start
OhareFred replied to Starwatcher1979's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Now now, lets no go nuts just yet! Plenty of time for that. Just remember, no one got hurt, you both have insurance, and its just a car. Could be alot worse. I know you are not happy about it, one of your prized possessions was violated due to someone else's carelessness. Id be pissed too. When you get it back, it should be good as new. Bodyshops have come a long way! Keep the faith!! -

OhareFred replied to Starwatcher1979's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
My guess is the battery cracked or shorted internally. Not an uncommon thing when you get wacked in the front or drivers fender. Insurance will cover it. -

OhareFred replied to Starwatcher1979's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
No, the battery light will come on if your charging system is bad. Does the car crank? Did the airbags deploy? It doesnt take much to turn on the headlights, but starting the car is another issue, espically with all the computers in them now. -

Your battery is located right in front of the drivers side tire. Might have been damaged in the accident..... -
You could try hitting the gas tank a few times with your fist or a rubber mallet. It is possible the sending unit is stuck at the full position. Perhaps the tank was overfilled? Put a little more in after it stopped ( we all do it ). Dont get carried away and dent the tank, just a few taps should do it,. Who knows, you might get lucky! Also, some auto parts stores will check your codes for free, then you dont need to buy a scanner tool.... If its the sending unit, the fuel tank needs to be dropped so I would take it somewhere for that. Good luck!
