Radiator over heating and interior heating
OhareFred replied to MissMindy's topic in Engine & Transmission
Stop Leak is the worst thing in the world and should be outlawed. More than likely all you did was gubk up your heater core and still have a rad leak. BEFORE you replace/ repair the rad, have the cooling system flushed throughly. Get all that crap out, then fix the rad the correct way. Once the cooling system is repaired you can see if you still have a heating issue. Keep doing what you are doing youll have an engine issue. Good luck!- 16 replies

Rear Wiper Coverage

Try spraying the spring and hinge pin with some WD40 or similar product. Sometimes the pin area gets rusty and does funny things to the blade. -

Cold Key Fob

If the fob was that cold maybe it messed with the battery? Cold battery, less power, short range on the transmitter? -
2015 Journey Tires w/ 20300 miles and they are crap
OhareFred replied to glwitzel's topic in Wheels & Tires
If you are thinking under warranty good luck. Tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer not Dodge. My orginal Kumo tires were the worst tires Ive ever had and would rather use stone then Kumo. I got about 33,000 miles on mine before I bought a set of Michelins. Now thats a good tire. -
2011 Dodge Journey Battery Issue
OhareFred replied to Miggy17's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
How can a battery be installed wrong?? Id look for a better answer than that! Batteries that are installed wrong tend to blow up...... -
A TSB is not the same as a recall. Maybe DodgeCares care chime in and give the number. Not sure if they charge for a TSB repair, but you gotta bite the bullet and get it done. Wait to see if someone knows the TSB, then go in to the dealer and say you need TSB number xxx done. You might have to pay, but it might fix the issue. With all the electronics I always buy an extended warranty, not sure if you can still get one......

Did you ever look into the TBS we talked about? Has to go to the dealer to be reflashed.....

Charging system / electrical problems
OhareFred replied to Lisa Brown's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I have not but there is a TSB for exactly that issue, but im not sure what years (didnt apply to 09). It has been discussed many many times here. Mayby try a search, or perhaps someone else will chime in.....- 18 replies

I have an 09 with the 3.5. That dipstick can really be tight! I thought I would break mine I had to pull so hard and I do not jam the thing as far down as I can either. You can check your oil cold, but dont fill it to the top of the safe line. Best to check warm ( driven till normal op temp, then wait 5 mins) is how I was taught back in the 70's and how I do it now. Better to be a little low on oil than too much!

Charging system / electrical problems
OhareFred replied to Lisa Brown's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I agree with Bamfrank. The alternator can be fine when cold, but once it warms up you get a bad connection and no charge. The fact that the battery light is coming on is telling you that the battery is not being charged for some reason. The fact that its off at first and then comes on once hot leads me to believe your alternator is bad. Can you possibly charge your battery enough so you can start the car ( not fully charged, you want a load on the alternator) start the car and check the amperage & voltage at the alternator right away. Now let it run long enough for the light to come on and check the amperage and voltage again in the same spot. If the amps/volts are low, alternator is bad. If theamps/volts are normal, the problem is between the alternator and battery. Hunting down electrical issues can be a pain in the ass, but you cant run around with spare batteries everywhere you go! Let us know how you make out......- 18 replies

Could be a relay for the heated seats, but I dont know if the is one in/under the seat. Since the dealer took it apart I would go back, you didnt have the noise before they did the work, you shouldnt now. Cloud be something as simple as a part touching another piece and transmitting the noise. Let us know.
-
Need more info please. Does it make the noise when you are moving it forward/backward, up/down? Does it click when you are sitting in it and not adjusting it? When the heated seat is on? Please fill in the banks! Thanks and Merry Christmas to you!

The 09 lifetime warranty also only applies to the original owner. I have an 09 and still purchased a lifetime extended warranty just because of all the electronics......
-
You could always 1: make your own connector using crimp connectors or 2: make a soder connection with shrink tubing covering the connections. All the connector is for is ease of swapping out seats, sensors, etc. when the seat needs to be removed. Not system critical.

12 volt power fuse keeps blowing
OhareFred replied to bobcat98092's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
(note to OhareFred: Arcing is not a possibility because of the low voltages involved). Bamfrank, its not just the voltage, its the amperage. 20-30 amps @ 12 volts can arc if the gap is small enough. -
My 09 has it and i took delivery of the car in July of 08, so its been an option since day one. Other than the airbag and heated seats hookup, i would think it wouldbe fairly easy swap.

12 volt power fuse keeps blowing
OhareFred replied to bobcat98092's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
If its not fitting all the way in, itsmost likely arcing and blowing the fuse. Might have to change the plug on the dvd player. -
How many lumins is the question...led may only be 5 watts...
-
Hey Ivan, yes you do have to remove the left front wheel and inner plastic fender wells, but its not a big deal. Changed mine in 30 mins start to finish... I wouldnt have a clue where you could get a battery. Mine was purchased at Auto-Zone and was about $160 US. They told me what the biggest size that would fit and I stuffed it in. More CCA the better.

12 volt power fuse keeps blowing
OhareFred replied to bobcat98092's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
Which are you using when it blows? DO NOT USE A BIGGER FUSE. The wires cannot handle a 30 amp draw, you could start a fire. If your dvd player is blowing it, check what its draw is supposed to be. Replace with the proper size fuse, dont plug anything in for a couple of days, see if it blows. If it blows while being used, its more than likely the device. If it blows by itself, its the vehicle. Ive used mine in my 09 for all kinds of stuff, never blew the fuse...let us know
