Alternator/Electrical Problem
OhareFred replied to Brandon Therens's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
If the alternator is getting hot while the car is not running, you can eliminate a bad bearing, BUT because it's getting hot while jumping or charging would lead me to think you have a short in the coil or diodes. Do you have a parts store or shop that can test the alternator for you while the car is running? That will answer your question. swapping batteries is a pain in the ass and you should not have to do it. I would load test that battery again, your numbers seemed a little low, but not terrible, but these newer cars need every amp! Good luck!- 12 replies

Ordered the parts online cause the dealer insisted only the entire sun visor was available. Cost under $3 for the parts, about $7 for shipping. Order one, it has both sides in the kit. Took about a week to get, and about 30 seconds to install! That's for the info!

I'd be more worried about the tires then the rust returning. As was said, it repainted correctly it won't be an issue. The different tires, that might give you a problem if it has AWD. Not so much the tread pattern, but tire size. Even if the tires say they are the same size, it varies a little from manufacture. If not AWD, just put two of the same make on the front and go.

2014 DJ shaking and stalling at 40 to 50 mph range

I wouldn't suggest the day of the week to them! It's their job to figure it out. You have them replacing the car, take it and run, imo. -
Navigation maps update
OhareFred replied to TaSol's topic in Audio, Infotainment Navigation, MyGig, UConnect, etc.
As far as I know you have to get the disk from Dodge. You might be able to get it on the Internet, but be careful, make sure it's the offical disk! Welcome! -
Look online. I just ordered the sun visor repair kit online when the dealer would only order the entire visor. The dealer wanted $85:00 for the visor, I got the kit shipped to my house for $15. If you can get the modual part number, search that.

Finally got chance to install HIDS
OhareFred replied to Mikes14sxt's topic in Accessories, Modifications
Not nonsense, it worked fine for me. Driven in front of my DJ and have no more light blinding then by any other car. Maybe you feel only dealers should make any changes to any car? Close all aftermarket shops! Make everything illegal unless it comes from Dodge!! Oh yes, btw, the dealer offered HId as an upgrade when I bought the car. Wow, same kit I used.... -
I have an 09 DJ and a IPHONE 5 with 8.2 software (3 phones) and they all work fine. Music, phone, Bluetooth, everything. Am I just lucky or are the old MyGig radios (I have a REN) better??

You can give the adjustment screw about 2,2-1/2 turns down. Still get great light so you can see but you won't be blinding everybody else. -

I would check your states lemon law. Keep taking it back with the same complaint. Make them write it up each time and keep your copies. Follow the lemon law directions. Doesn't cost you a cent. I did it with a steering issue I had with my Durango. Not only did I get $ back, they had to fix it and warranty for as long as I owned the car. -
Why don't you try a few that have been mentioned by renting for a weekend? I know I get email offers/deals on car rentals. Then you can "test drive" a few without the pressure from a dealer. I think the DJ is a little small just because of all the added baby stuff. I'm thinking Tahoe, Expidition, etc if you don't want a mini van. You will lose big in the mpg area with a big SUVs....

Thanks Leaning! My 09 pass cover has been busted for at least 2 years! Going to call Monday!!

I put good aftermarket rotors and ceramic pads on my 09. First brake job was at 11,000 miles. OEM parts by dealer. Second brake job at 24,000 miles, this time all 4 wheels. This is when I put the aftermarket pads and rotors on. Now have 63,000 miles, haven't touched the brakes and they have a TON of pad left. If you use good aftermarket stuff, you'll be fine. At least I am!

auto headlights
OhareFred replied to batch209's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I think it's tied into the heat/AC system. Do a search, this was discussed at length a few months ago -
Maybe she isn't independantly wealthy and can't dump it. If it doesn't work right, Dodge should stand behind their product, not expect the purchaser to be a cheerleader for Doge no matter what. Every car will have problems, I don't care who makes it, but that doesn't mean a person can't come to a forum and complain about it. Personally I find the blind cheerleaders more offensive. I'm not trying to start a war here, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this is the type of place to express it. Wether or not we all agree is irrelevant.

2015 crossroad needs new door and fender= just purchased 2 days ago
OhareFred replied to Hshannon's topic in Exterior & Body
Hate to say it but if your door was open into a traffic lane, you are at fault, even if the other guy crossed4 lanes to get there! More importantly no one was hurt and it's not a difficult repair for a good shop. Happens all the time. -
Within the key fob is a metal key and two of the power outlets in the car have a key symbol on them. The problem I had was neither had a slot in which to put the key, just the round opening that you use to power a phone or GPS. Seriously? The big round opening that looks like a cigarette lighter? Ok, the reason two have a key symbol on it is because they only work when the ignition is on, or the car is running. The one with the battery symbol is on all the time. Good thing you chose the ignition only one, you would have shorted everything out jamming a little key in there. Read your newly downloaded manual, then drive to the dealer and ream them out for not explaining the car to you when you took delivery.

Glad to hear you are ok. The smoke/smoldering you saw was the fine powder they use when packing the air bag. You smelled the activator, which uses, basically, a small explosion to inflate the bags. It all happens so fast, and between the smell and dust many people think the air bags was on fire. It sounds like they worked like they are supposed to. Again, glad to hear everyone was ok!

Let's see. Your driving a vehicle that looks like a rectangle. The rear window is almost straight up and down. You introduce air under pressure into the rectangle from one source and want to know why it's buffetting?! Open the front window an inch, open your back window, you will be ok. You can't keep adding pressure to the vehicle and not let it out. OR use the AC or vent system....
