  1. Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna crawl under there right now.....
  2. That's good info, I'll have to check them out
  3. If you go to the web site, they tell you what the original number was and what they have in LED to replace it.
  4. Put HID in mine. Had to go through a few companies till I found one that worked right. It is entirely possible you will need the cancelers, depends on the kit.
  5. I've had good luck with this site: Super Bright LEDs – LED Lights and Accessories They have an easy to use bulb matcher, and have good quality products. I just put 3 watt LED brake lamps and tail lamps in my 09, work great. Keep in mind if you are changing directional bulbs, you will need resisters or canbus bulbs. If you aren't sure, call them. Good luck!@
  6. My 09 is the same way. I've always used Mobil 1 and it still tics when cold for a few seconds. Just the nature of the beast I think!
  7. Thanks for the reply! Thought it was ok, but then again I'm not behind the car too often and thought i missed something! Glad to know I'm not loosing it.
  8. OK all, am I nuts or what. I installed LED bulbs in place of the 3157 stock bulbs. On the quarter panel, or outside, sockets all works well. On the tailgate, or inside, sockets not so much. The bulbs come on with the headlamps, but not with the brake lamps. Re-installed all the original bulbs and guess what, same thing! Why does Dodge spec 3157 (dual filament) bulbs for all 4 lamps and the use a single brightness socket on the tailgate? They even installed 3157's in all 4 sockets from the factory. The tailgate sockets only have 2 wires going to them as well. I bought the car new and never had any work done back there, so nothing was messed with. Is my 09 Journey screwed up, or is this normal????
  9. OK, I have an 09 R/T. Can I get DRL's to work on mine? I see there is a spot for a relay but no relay. Do I just need to add a relay or is there more to it? A USA car btw....
  10. How did you collapse the caliper in the rear when you changed the pads? Did you use a "C" clamp and just compress them, or did you use a caliper compressor tool that turns the caliper in? On the 09 (and maybe other years) the rear calipers MUST be turned in, not compressed or you damage the caliper. Calipers do go bad, and with all the brake issues the DJ has it would not be surprising it was bad. I have an 09 and haven't had caliper issues, but have replaced the pads 3 times and rotors 2 times. After I switched to ceramic pads and aftermarket rotors, no problem. When doing brakes, you need to make sure and use brake grease on all the sliding parts (pins, where pads meet the caliper housing). Not a lot, just a light coating to keep things moving. Hope this helps!
  11. check to make sure your cord is good. If you are using a simple patch cord (from the headphone jack to the aux on the radio, 3.5mm plugs) make sure it is a stereo cord. There will be 2 black "lines" on the steel plug if its a stereo cable, only one if its not. Other then that, you might have a bad aux input. Good luck!
  12. Not to be a wise guy, but does your IPOD work by itself? Maybe try a different IPOD. I have an 09 with the REN radio, and it will recognize my older IPOD Nano, but not my new IPOD Nano. Go figure. It won't play the new Nano with the cable either, but the Nano works fine on every other piece of electronic equipment in the house. What can I say.
  13. Be sure to run some washer fluid through the lines. Obviously there was water in the lines, most likely from when you picked it up at the dealer. Just press the button till washer fluid comes out, just to be sure. Of course, one would think the dealer would do it, but......
  14. I've had my 09 since July of 08. Has about 45,000 miles on it. Yes like everybody else, the brakes were an issue. The only other problem I had was a sunroof leak (fixed first trip) and the dash light dimmer went out last year ($100). Other then that no big issues! I'm very happy. Got the car for a steal (it's an R/T) and it has everything I wanted. Since I'm the original owner, I have the lifetime power-train warranty (also purchased a lifetime everything warranty) so this is a keeper!
  15. I though there was a TSB that covered this. DodgeCares, you out there????
  16. Look into ceramic pads with after market rotors. Replaced my first set at 11,000 miles. Thought WTF. Second set at 22,000. Replaced front and rears with ceramic pads and with lifetime rotors from Murrays Auto Parts. Now have 45000 with more then 3/4 left! Dodge used cheap parts.
  17. Why else are we here if not to help each other out. I've been helped here many times, and hopefully I've been able to return the favor. I have been an instructor for classes and have always told the people I was teaching "there are no dumb questions, only the one you don"t ask." How about we all let this go away?????
  18. The 19 inch tires on an 09 are torqued at 100 foot pounds
  19. Dre, Come on man, you buy a new car and expect it to work!!!???? :hysterical2: What do you expect from an "American" auto maker who assembles their cars in Mexico???? I hope by now you realize I'm completely on your side. Dealers are becoming less and less dependable (most anyway) and if you ever find one that is worth anything stick with them. I agree completely they should be figuring out whats wrong with your car not you. If your house is on fire does the fireman ask you how to put it out? By the way, I didn't think steel belted radial tires got flat spots anymore, but I've been wrong before. Hope you have some better luck. Keep the faith.......
  20. Hey all, anyone else have this problem..... I have an 09 R/T with about 43,000 miles Suddenly I have developed the problem of having moisture collecting inside the lens of the passenger headlight assembly. It covers the entire assembly, heavier on the bottom half to clear on the very top. I have checked for cracks in the lens (NONE, not even scratched), checked the vent tubes to see if they became blocked (nope) and even ran water over the top of the assemble by the clear/black seam (no leaks, see no water going in). If I remove all the bulbs and park in the sun, the lens clears up, for awhile, but then returns in a few days. Ideas?????? ALSO, maybe for DodgeCares, I have a lifetime warranty from Dodge. Since its not damaged would it be covered if I need to replace it??? Thanks in advance.
  21. I just put a set of Michelin 235-55-19 on my 09 R/T without any problems at all. Stock rims. Nothing rubs, etc. As far as looking wider, not that I can tell....
  22. I had an 09 R/T that I bought new. Both the dealer and I thought the REN radio had UConnect built in because the buttons were there, but it did not. They added the UConnect module and an external mic (the car did not have the built in mic in the mirror) and had to program the computer. I would think that if you have the REN radio, UConnect module, and a mic installed in your DJ, all the dealer would have to do is program the car to recognize it. What that would cost is how well you get along with your dealer. Only takes a couple of mins to do.
  23. I had the same problem. Drivers side worked like a charm but the passenger side was hit an miss. Yes I have a canbus hid system. Try this. In my kit was an extension cable to supply power from the factory connector to the ballast. I reworked the location of the ballast so I did not use the extension cable and like magic, the problem has disappeared! I did use the extension cable on the drivers side without a problem. I checked the extension cable, it is just fine. Switched cables with the drivers side and it worked fine. So now I have the drivers side using an extension cable, passenger side not, auto lights on working fine. Don't ask me why....
