  1. Nitrogen is an inert gas with, as stated by symbasys, very little moisture in it. The TPMS only is measuring pressure in the tire, not what is making the pressure, if that makes any sense. Nitrogen will be fine.
  2. Got an 09 with the 19" Kumho tires. Can't wait to get them off. I've had problems with slippage in rain and the are terrible in anything over 1/2 inch of snow. Have 41,000 on them and they are starting to show the wear indicators, so I'll be going Michelin (if I can get them in a proper size). I will say I never had a leak or flat, but was not impressed with them from day one.
  3. I've have a whistle from my 09 ac that just started. Mine is a little different though, as it whistles on start-up until the ac "speeds up", then is gone. Never had it before this summer. Haven't seen any problems with the ac so haven't been worried about it.
  4. Hey all, This has begun to happen to my REN radio (AM-FM-Sat radio,DVD player, UConnect, rear camera, Hard-drive) First, if I try to copy my IPOD to the hard drive, it will only copy some songs on the playlist. For example, one of my playlist shows 150 songs on the IPOD but only shows 145 on the radio hard-drive. It did not copy 5 songs (went through them one by one). All music plays fine on the IPOD. It also will not recognize my new IPOD Nano, but sees my old NANO fine (the new NANO is set for "enable disk use") Second, yesterday when I was making a few stops at a few stores I had this problem. After 3 short stops, I got no picture from the rear camera and nothing on the radio. Totally blank screen. After 3-4 minutes, everything came back on. Anyone have this happen to them? Is the radio crapping out of is it just a fluke? Using the latest software available. Any comments?
  5. Did you try looking under the seat, from the back seat, and see if you can see/feel the latch? If you can, pull it towards the rear of the car, maybe it might open. If you can see your tab, try putting some pressure down on the seat while you pull the tab. Maybe you'll get luckly.
  6. Well, have the IPOD set to disk mode, old one works fine, still won't read the new one. Maddening.......
  7. Thanks for the reply. Tomorrow when I get home from work I'll try that.
  8. OK, here is the exact error message "INVALID USB DEVICE DETECTED" , then I get "no music available for copying". Any ideas?
  9. Hey all, Anyone else running into this problem? I have an 09 DJ with the REN 30 gig HHD. I just got a new I Pod nano 16 GB. When I try to upload songs to the REN via the USB cable, it gives me an error message, something like no I Pod detected (I'll update with the exact message when I can plug it back in) or "no songs on I POD (of course there are). Now, my 8GB Nano works OK. Sometime it won't download all the songs, or at least it won't show them. For example, I know there 89 songs on the playlist, but the car says 82. I have updated the radio software to 9.292 (actually re-installed it, been running that for awhile). Any ideas? I don't use the I POD in the car, that's why I have the HDD.
  10. I've got an 09 and it has the rod. Never saw one with a strut.....
  11. Been very happy with mine. Working without a problem. Not melting, etc.
  12. Not to be a wise guy, but are you sure you used the correct weight oil? If you used 10/30 your m p g will suffer.
  13. There was a problem on earlier DJ's that a piece of clear tape was left installed over the holes in the doors. Just open the door and look at the bottom. If you see tape over the oval (at least on 09's) hole, cut it open or peel it off. That should do it.
  14. I usually run at 37-40 pounds. Helps the gas mileage a little and really doesn't affect the ride.
  15. My buddy has an brand new Equniox and really likes it, except for the 4 cyl engine. Now for city driving (Chicago) he says the 4 cyl is fine, but getting on the highway can be loads of excitement. He feels that the engine REALLY works to get up to speed, but it is a 4 after all. I've ridden in it and it rides as nice or better then my 09 Journey. The Journeys 3rd row seats are nice for kids, but forget an average size adult lasting more then 5-10 mins back there (did that one my self). The brakes on the DJ outright suck. You will change them alot (twice in 30,000 miles, one complete set of rotors already) and I am not hard on brakes. Hell, I got almost 40,000 on the fronts on my Durango and I was towing a boat at times. Other then that I really haven't had any big issues with my 09. Bottom line, buy what you like and can afford! Best of luck with which ever car you get!
  16. I've got an 09. Yep, replaced the brakes twice in 30,000 miles. Had a couple of minor issues as well, sunroof leaked (fixed by dealer under warranty), recall for a couple of things. All in all, I'm happy with my car. I got a great deal, it's an R/T, rides like a dream and has a lifetime power-train warranty. Is it a Caddy or BMW? No, but I didn't pay 50 grand for it either. Like everything, you get what you pay for. You want top of the line, it costs you. I agree 30,000 is a lot to pay for a car and it should be dependable, but it is what it is. My biggest complaint is that it's assembled in Mexico and not in the USA. I'd rather pay more for the car and have it really made here. Just my 2 cents, not wanting to start a war.
  17. The passenger side is pretty easy to get to so I think your problem is the drivers side. On my 09, the easiest way to access the bulb is to move the fuse holder under the hood. There are 4 little metal tabs that you push in (2 at a time) and the entire assembly can be moved. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LET THE BATTERY CABLE CONTACT ANYTHING METAL. I cover the metal tabs with a cloth. Once the assembly is loose and moved out of the way, you can reach in and change the bulb. Not really easy, but can be done without removing the entire assembly. Not sure about newer models! Good luck
  18. Tell ya what, PM me your email and I can send them to you. I'm done trying to post pics here! I obviously am doing something wrong because I keep getting an error message that the pic is to large. Im happy to help but don't have time to play around with trying to post a pic.
  19. If I could get them to post I would! Why7 can't we just post a JPEG instead of all the cropping and other stuff????
  20. Way back in the dark ages when I had auto shop in high school my instructor always had us do the finish cut. Not saying you are wrong, that's just how I was taught. Maybe the teacher wanted us to get really good at turning rotors and drums! I went to high school 75-79, maybe the quality control wasn't there and that had something to do with it. I know the rotors weighed a lot more then! :P
  21. When you lube the caliper slide, you don't need much grease. Use brake cleaner to clean away the old grease, both on the caliper itself and the area where it sits/slides. Make sure to use brake caliper grease, and a little does a lot. I usually just put some on my finger and then run it on the slide area. The last step I do before putting on the tire is to clean the rotors (front & back) with a little brake clean (spin the rotor while spraying AWAY from the pads). When you say a "tab" are you talking about a little metal springy thing or actually a solid part of the pad? If its the "springy" thing, that is usually a anti-rattle clip OR could be your low pad warning device. The spring will contact the rotor and squeal before you get to metal on metal. There is one spring for each side. One more thing comes to mind, don't over torque your tires/rims. If you just ram them on with an impact gun, you can warp the rotors. Had that problem with my Dodge Durango untill I started using a torque wrench. Its ok to set the lugs to snug with the gun, but use the wrench to finalize. 100 foot pounds comes to mind (for torque on the lug nuts) but I know it's in the owners manual. Hope this helps you out! Dodge and brakes seem to be a bad combo!!!
  22. Well, as a guy who does his own brakes all the time, lets go over a few things. 1: Did you change the pads with the rotors, or just the rotors? 2: Did you have a shops check the new rotors for round, and put a "finish cut" on them? 3: Did you thoroughly clean all surfaces where the brake caliper slides? 4: Did you notice the vibration return right away or only after you drove it awhile? If you didn't change the pads, try that, but get a cut on the rotors before you install the new pads. I used ceramic pads, non-slotted/drilled (but good quality) rotors with very good results on my DJ. Even though the rotors are brand spankin new, they could be a little bit off right out of the box. I ALWAYS have a cut done on new rotors just to "clean up" any minor flaws. If you reused the pads, they could be formed to your old rotors and causing a problem. I never reuse pads, even if there is decent "meat" left on them. You could have a caliper hanging up if you didn't clean and properly lube the contact areas. And yes, a vibration/pulse can show up at one speed and not another, only on rainy days, etc. so it can drive you nuts! Please don't take offense, these are just some ideas that I came up with that can be overlooked that can cause you headaches. Hope this helps ya out!
