  1. Just got back from a 4,215 mile trip through the South West US. Went through Colorado, Utah, South Dakota, Arizona, and all have some pretty good size "hills". Used the cruise alot, but usually when coming down the hill I used the auto-stick. In other words, I down-shifted myself to hold the speed. Other then the rpm's picking up, I noticed no other noise. When the cruise was on and holding speed, again I heard no noise. Hope that helps ya!
  2. Should be under the steering column in plain view. Now need to remove any panels. etc.
  3. The neutral safety switch prevents the car from being started IN GEAR. You should be able to start the car in park or neutral. If the car starts while in drive, then your neutral safety switch is bad.

    ESP OFF

Ok, that makes perfect sense now. I was thinking just everyday, around town driving.

    ESP OFF

Why bother? What do you gain by turning it off???
  6. After the conversation mirror goes all the way down (so you can get your sunglasses) push it up a little and it should stay in position so you can see in back.
  7. I've got the same "first thing in the am" slow speed slip. If you try to go out the garage without waiting about 10-15 seconds, you creep. Even if you press the gas. Put it in park & go, its fine. Just figured it was building up tranny pressure. Never slips any other time. Have had my 09 since July 08 and now have about 13,000 miles on it V-6 w/6speed autostick
  8. CostCo had some in the Chicago area which, but for the life of me I cannot recall who made them. They were about $8 each and work really well. The oem ones lasted about a year for me, but I dont drive all that much.
  9. I've seen this in a thread before. Check on the bottom of the doors andmake sure the small piece of tape was removed from your drain hole in the bottom of the door. Seems some were not removed at the factory!
  10. Not that involved. All you have to do is move the main electrical/fuse assembly. 4 clamps (push them in as you pull up) and you can move it enough to reach the drivers side bulbs. don't have to do anything alse.
  11. Just curious, why don't you load your IPod Touch onto the REN units hard drive? Thats done with the usb cable connector on the front of the radio.
  12. Just checked my 09 and no crack. Do you live in a cold area? Did you get tagged in a parking lot in the cold? My buddies Chrysler got tapped on a 10 degree F day and cracked, not dented.
  13. I've got the 7 seat R/T with rear heat & ac. My 11 year old son loves the heat/ac control and has sat back in the third row multiple times without complaint (he's tall for his age, about 5'6''). Remember those third row seat also recline a little bit as well as the second row, so even I (6'0'', 190 lbs) have sat back there, just to see how it was, and it wasn't all that bad. The trip was only about 30 mins though. With the third row reclined, I have plenty of storage room. just my 2 cents. Get what YOU like best!
  14. I've got an 09 that I have been trying to get a Samsung Gravity to copy the contact list. GOOD LUCK !! iI updated the Journeys unit (an REN) with the latest software and updated the phone as well, but no luck. I can get the internet on the phone, but it won't copy the contacts! Usually I find the # and hit send & then just use the handsfree (I wait till a red light of course). I think we were sold a bunch of hooy about the contact list.
  15. I've been a firefighter/paramedic in Chiicago for almost 30 years now. Been to a couple of crashes in my time. I can count on one hand, with fingers left over, how many times not wearing a seatbelt saved someone. Maybe 3 times, so yes it does happen. Personally I feel if you don't want to wear a belt thats up to you, it should be your choice. Don't use my tax dollars to support your paralized body if you won't wear one. My choice. Me, and everyone I know and love wears the belt in my car and I don't care how they feel about it. My car, my rules. Your car, your rules. With me now off my soapbox (thank you for enduring) I don't think your dealer can leagally shut off the buzzer (the whole NHTSB thing). It used to be a little relay buzzer thing that plugged into the fuse box, but now is intergrated into the computer (I think). Of course there are ways around everything. Should you choose not to belt up, may your journeys ALWAYS be safe. Happy Thanksgiving to All! PS: I am not wanting to start a war about government control, etc. I am simply stating what I know as facts. Thanks for listening!
  16. Just a question, was it on while you were wearing the seatbelt??
  17. No, I have a foot pedal as well. I just took it for granted thats what was meant. Sorry for the confusion!

    tire removal

I hope she is all set by now. Anyway, I've seen this with my Journey when I did my tire rotation. What I do is sit on the ground and use my feet (first one, then the other) to slightly kick the sides of the tire with the bottom of my foot. Usually one or two will do it. YOU MUST BE CAREFULY THAT THE CAR DOESN'T FALL OFF THE JACK. Doing this on the side of the road can be dicey as well. An alkternat method is to stand with your back to the car, Again gining the tire a quick kick (with the bottom of your foot). Good luck!
  19. No picture to take really. Open the air cleaner cover, throw out the old one, put in the K & N (comes pre-oiled from the factory) close the cover. Apply the K & N decal to the cover, you're done! :burnout:
  20. How many miles do you have and what kind of oil are you using? Before I got near 12,000 mile and I switched to synthetic 10/30 (I have a V6) I got very close numbers to you. Don't get depressed! Alot of factors effect MPG, including weather, terrian, etc. Each engine is a little different. Some loosen up more quickly then others!
  21. I looked at both the Ford Edge and the Journey (among others). Like many here, the deal was the seller. I have a 2009 with the V6 R/T 3rd row seats, power seats, leather, etc. When I drove the Edge, it road like my 2000 Durango. The interior looked nicer, but not for what the price was (around 31,000$). When I drove the Journey, I thought I was in a sedan! What a sweet ride. I also have back problems and let me tell you, after 12,500 miles and several long trips, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I just love this suv. I have FWD and havent had a problem in the snow, rain, or anything construction could throw at me. My last trip I was averaging 28 mpg! Is the interior a little plastic? You bet. Can I live with it? You bet. I have had one problem with the interior, the cold zone door wouldn't open. It was replaced and that is the ONLY problem I've had. Did replace the brake pads about 1,000 miles ago as they were getting low. That seems to be a common complaint. Each person is different and has different requirments, but for the price (22,000) it's one hell of a car! Just my 2 cents. Enjoy!
  22. Well, got home today from about a 500 mile round trip from Illinois to Upper Wisconsin (north of Green Bay). My Journey just turned 12,000 miles on this trip. Its a V6 R/T with a K7N air filter and Synthetic oil, no other mods. On the way out, mid 40's F, very windy and rainy, managed to average 26.3 mpg @ 70 mph. On the way home, lower to mid 40's F, little wind, spottly snow showers to overcast, managed 28.5 mpg @ an average of around 70 mph! I was very happy and didn't believe the computer untill I figured it out myself. Hope it wasn't a fluke!
  23. I've had problems with my new IPOd as well. It seems to be an IPOD issue, as mine will not work with chargers that I had for an older version. They must expect you to by everything new! On a side note, what stereo do you have and what cable # are you using?
