Flickering headlights and dash lights
OhareFred replied to Borjawil's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
I believe there are cases where the wiring to the alternator gets corroded where it plugs into the alternator. I’d start there. Check battery connections at the battery, might be loose....let us know! -
2011 Journey Wiper problems
OhareFred replied to speedair01's topic in Glass, Lighting, Mirrors, Sun Roofs & Wipers
I’ve never heard of it, but each car is different -
Check your battery cables, make sure they are tight and the cables aren’t corroded inside. Changing the battery will not cause ANY issue with the car not starting (unless the new battery is dead). The small 9 volt battery/memory saver is for your radio (not really needed, radio holds a memory for about 30 mins) and thing like your transmission drive patterns. Worse case scenario is the car needs to re-learn your driving habits. I never used one on my DJ when I changed the battery and never had any issues....

If you are sure the unit is getting power when the car is running and in acc position, and you are sure you didn’t get a bad eBay unit, maybe try this. Disconnect the battery cables for 30-40 mins. This seems to cure ALOT of DJ electronic issues. If you checked all the fuses and they are good, if you are sure the unit is getting proper voltage, and it still is DOA, either the unit is bad or there is a bigger issue... let us know

Are you getting 4 wheel alignments? Sounds like some suspension issue changing the camber... I rotate mine every oil change, 5k miles
-
Tow package was an option in 09 and still is I believe. If the hitch says haul, Reese, etc on it it was likely installed aftermarket. 10k for an 09 seems awfully high.

The AutoZone by me hands you the reader, you plug it in, it reads the codes, you take the reader back inside and they give you the printout...
-
You pay for the oil change. As far as I know, anyone can take it in, but try a quick call to be sure. The warranty goes with the car, not the person.... coolant issue should be covered. Might be your water pump....
-
Only way to get the code is with a code reader. Stop at AutoZone, should be free.

Took mine to the dealer. I’m the original owner and got a lifetime Powertrain warranty from FCA so both were covered under that warranty so it was free.

Enjoy your new ride!

I use Premium each time (Costco doesn’t sell 89) and clean/recoil the filter every 10K miles. Always have. Filter does nothing IMO.

I think you will be OK. With everything being closed due to COVID dates have been extended. Here in Illinois I’m still driving a car who’s tags expired in June because we couldn’t get the emission test. They said wait to September and start then. You can call, it certainly won’t hurt, but I think you’ll be ok.

I have a K&N in my 09. Not worth it, doesn’t do a thing for mpg or hp that I can see. In fact, thinking of pitching it and getting a regular disposable one.

Size of ac low pressure recharge line hose
OhareFred replied to Specialkay's topic in Climate Control
Well, if you need to add Freon the reason is a leak. You need to add the correct type Freon for your car. R12 isn’t used anymore and what is depends on your model year. the best bet would be take it to an AC shop and have the leak fixed and the correct Freon added. Can’t mix them.... -
Welcome aboard! A lot more fun to drive then a MV. Plenty of issues With the DJ to discover, but plenty of help here too!

690LB trailer.....no tow package.
OhareFred replied to Bryman31's topic in Accessories, Modifications
I think the trans cooler is standard, but not positive. I have one on my 09 R/T, no tow package. As far as trailer brakes, I thought only required at the 3000 lb area, but again not sure. There are tons of people towing here, as well as a ton of threads. I’m sure someone with better knowledge will chime in.... -
And Thank You for your service! ??

Need location of a throttle body on 2013 dual vvt engine.
OhareFred replied to DarinW's topic in Engine & Transmission
Even if he has a V6, the tube from the air cleaner leads to the throttle body. Either he is clueless about what is under his hood OR he has a one of a kind, 4cylinder Journey. Maybe he has a prototype? Na, I go with clueless and has an attitude.....but that’s me- 14 replies

Need location of a throttle body on 2013 dual vvt engine.
OhareFred replied to DarinW's topic in Engine & Transmission
If you still can’t find the throttle body you should not be attempting this repair. Don’t get shitty with people trying to help you, we aren’t there ya know. Personally I don’t think your trying to replace the throttle body, because you can’t miss it. I think you are trying to replace something else, like the intake plenum, and think it’s the throttle body. Take a picture of your engine and maybe we can point it out to you, or take it to someone who knows what they are doing.- 14 replies

Follow the tube from the air cleaner box. Leads to the throttle body. Compare what you have to what you find. Let us know...- 14 replies
