  1. The website is www.car-part.com. They have car parts from salvage yards across the country. It should be under (headlight switch, dash) called "auto headlight switch" They have one from a 2011 for $35
  2. We have a '14 SXT - Mine has the bump up for where the sensor goes but I don't know if it's just the molded plastic that is raised; I don't know what the sensor would look like. My wife and I were annoyed with the lights not coming on as well so I added the auto switch. Although it technically doesn't turn on or off from the ambient lighting (ergo, I must not have the sensor), the headlights do turn on with the engine and off when you turn the engine off. No more beeping at us that we left the headlights on. So, yes, they are more like DRL's, but not having to remember to turn them on and off is better in my book. The part was $35 on car-part. Oh, and took all of 30 seconds to pop out the old switch and pop the new one in.
  3. You sound like you've done your research and know what you're talking about. I'm a Christian and did a lot of prayer about getting a new vehicle. I felt like God was telling me to have a particular fixed price for my trade-in and 2 hours of song and dance with the dealer yielded that trade-in value. It was pretty cool. Was definitely more than I would have gotten on my own. Don't you love how the salesmen try to throw all these imaginary numbers out and make it sound like you really are a bad person if you don't agree with their price?? Have you tried looking up internet specials at multiple dealers? Seems like they have their best deals that way
  4. Hi Florez, no you wouldnt be able to do that. You would need to change the reciever out to gain nav. I don't know for sure if youd have to change out the display though. Perhaps someone else can chime in on that. If you buy a receiver newer than 2011 you will need the VIN of the car it came from, the new radio serial info, and your dealer will have to unlock it. Pre-2012 doesn't require this. Also know that different model year display colors are different and even the graphics are different. To some that matters.... I'm planning on upgrading from a 4.3 to an re2 this weekend so I'm right there with you. This is a very helpful forum, good luck!
  5. Congratulations, welcome to the club! Sharp-looking ride
  6. Welcome to the Forum! This is from a previous thread, props to Skinner, but here is a link: http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html?screenName=newVehicle&country=us&emailUrl=goToEmailForm%2528%2527R%2527%2529 Go to equipment listing on the left, next enter your VIN mid right page. That will give you a printable pdf.
  7. Right on, thanks! I'm planning on ordering the receiver and screen tomorrow. I appreciate the help!
  8. That's my thought too, I'd like to buy it. I called an LKQ shop about a Charger radio and they said they don't have it listed in the interchange. Called another place and they said, "well, it may work, I just don't know for sure." So, Milous, Lobitz, or has anyone else done it that ya'll know of? I already made the mistake with the Dart radio... And I am going to buy a Journey screen which I am assuming will plug and play with the receiver (I'm sure I'll need an unlock code from the dealer)
  9. $100 for the receiver. Seems like a good deal but I don't know how different it would be being the earlier version. Lobitz - I'm talking a "new" receiver and screen.
  10. Thanks for the reply, I am not as tech savvy apparently as I don't really understand what that means. I was looking at an re2s system out of a charger, part number 68210553AA. I think that will work in a Journey with a Journey screen but I've screwed up on this already so wanted to tap the insight here and double check. Any thoughts?
  11. Has anyone here (or familiar with anyone who has) installed uconnect systems from a Dodge Charger? I'm wondering if they are compatible. Thanks
  12. Okay, thanks, I will look for those part numbers. And thanks again for all the help, Milous, I REALLY appreciate it!
  13. Wow, thank you very much for the detailed info, very informative. I've been following the thread you mentioned and used that and additional threads as part of my "researching" the upgrade. I have all the parts at this point except the appropriate receiver. I am looking at a receiver part# P68210553AB that I'm interested in buying but I don't know which option it is (re2, rb5, etc.) . I've tried to look it up but haven't been successful. Is there a good website to check part numbers? None of the ones I've tried have been very trustworthy. Thanks again for the help
  14. Milous, thanks for the reply, when I go to the Uconnect website and pick systems, 2014, Dodge Journey, RB5 isn't an option as an available system. You may be correct but I'm just not familiar with it. Thanks for the part number. Other than the fact of needing the unlock code on '12 and up versions, do you know of any reasons to veer away from buying an '11 or '12 RB5? Thanks
  15. Well, I had enough parts to attempt the 8.4 upgrade from the 4.3S today. I have a 2014 Journey but found out that the Dart receivers are NOT compatible with the Journeys, lesson learned. The unit I got was listed as Nav but when I checked it out it is not, which is just as well as I will be returning it because it doesn't fit. Here's the most important question I have - what model receivers are compatible for the swap? I am under the impression that Chargers are and possibly 300's as well. (although the background color may be different). Does anyone have any more info? I know that I can't get a 2014 Journey nav radio as they don't make those. I hooked everything up and nothing worked. I don't know if that's because it was a Dart setup or if the receiver I got just flat doesn't work. I've read a lot on here (and even the Dart forum) on upgrading the radio. I even contacted Uconnect and they told me that it's the same system (rb5, but I know they don't offer Rb5 in the current Journeys) in the Darts as in the Journeys. Although I'm guessing that even if it's the same system I know the mounting box isn't the same. I really wouldn't be too against the RE2's but I want Nav capability down the road even if I don't need it right now. I am stumbling through this... Would the 8.4" screen work with 4.3 receiver? Even that didn't work when it was hooked up and I'm hoping it's because the receiver wasn't communicating properly with the screen. Thanks for any help
  16. I've got Uconnect in mine - a '14 with the 4.3s. There are a few things you need to add to get the Bluetooth function - buttons for your steering wheel, new rearview mirror (it's got microphones in it), and the wiring harnesses for both. I don't think that's a comprehensive list though. I will be upgrading my radio to the 8.4N in the next couple of weeks, just ordered the parts. I'm planning on adding a camera too but I don't know yet if I will do the install or not. I will plan on doing some kind of documenting of the project that may (or may not be helpful to you. Either way, it should be a fun project!
  17. Thanks Milous, I had read about that as well on here so while I don't know if I'll need to get another sensor or something, I am going to get the lower stack AC controls with the auto button and hopefully it works. I ordered the bezel, the RB5, and the screen today. Looking forward to getting this stuff and getting it in! The other thing I am going to be adding is a backup camera, either doing it myself (probably choose against this option), or having it installed. I don't know how involved the installation is.
  18. Thanks Lobitz. I am planning on ordering parts today and will eventually be doing a "tutorial" on how I did it. Pending a good outcome If anyone has any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas, please let me know
  19. Hello! After lurking in the shadows and learning from many others, I thought I'd finally join the forum and straight up ask the question I haven't been able to find an answer to. I have a 2014 Journey SXT with a 4.3s/REB. I want to upgrade to the Rb5 but I don't know if it matters what year Rb5 I get. It's pretty tough to find a 2014 rb5 that is somewhat affordable. I found one from 2012 that I was about to buy but the guy at the salvage yard thought it wouldn't work with my '14. Other items I'll need -bezel, new AC panel (mine is not auto), and a touch screen as well. Any thoughts?
