Turns on by itself

Hi- So I have a 2012 dodge journey and my climate control will just turn on by itself as I am driving down the road. It will be off when i start the car and the once i start driving it is like an on/off war with the vehicle. I have all the back controls to the off position. Any suggestions on what to do. Was thinking something must be loose?

Had the same thing happen today. The rear controls just kept turning on. Every time I turned them off on the touch screen they would come back on. Finally reached back and turned the knob to the off position. Hopefully that is all for that.

Strange that this came up. I just got my steering column recall done and the next day my climate control started acting up. I always have it set to sync and for some reason I started her up and it wasn't on sync. Then as I was driving along, I realized my AC was on. I didn't remember turning it on. Finally, when I got in one time, the back fan was blowing on high. Yelled at the kids to turn it down, but they showed me out was on the lowest seeing. I thought it was me, since I was having a crazy week, but now I'm wondering.

Well, not sure what could be causing this but try disconnecting the battery for 20mins or so.  This seems to fix electrial gremlins in the DJ.......

Sorry Fred, just seeing this. I'll try this and let you all know how it goes.

I may have figures it out. Was messing around with the back controls and have found out that one of the knobs is loose. Can just touch it and it turns system on. Will have to see if that knob is replaceable. it is the temperature knob.

This is recently occurring on my 2012 SXT. When it first started I would just lock the rear controls out so that it would stop breaking sync.

I took it on a road trip this weekend and the rear passengers wanted to use it though. A few days into the trip and suddenly it's blowing hot air in the back.
I decided to lock the rear controls out again, but when I went to the screen to do it the temp slider was flying up and down like crazy without anyone touching the knobs.
I wound up waiting for it to slide down to cold and pressing lock just as it hit the bottom. It's been left alone since. I'm curious if it's a problem with that control panel, or the HVAC system itself.

Did you ever get this fixed? If so, how?

Well, I took it back to the dealer that did the recall while the fan was blowing on high and the setting was on low and they told me something probably went wrong when they reflashed the car with the recall. They took it in for about 30 minutes (because I told them I wasn't leaving it again) and it never happened again. Not really a fix.

Having all the same issues. Had a vehicle into dealership twice and they cannot figure out the problem. They cannot get it to duplicate so therefore they don’t know what to fix. Very frustrated!

BCM body ground control module if it’s bad can create a lot of weird difficult to diagnose problems on a vehicle.

Not sure if it’s tied into climate control on a journey. The module has to match exactly the options on a car for it to be effective, so recycled parts from a wrecker not a good option with this type of electronic part.

Here is a temporary fix, if the rear manual climate control is the issue. Go to the climate control on the touch screen. Click the rear climate button. Then click the lock button. Hope this helps for a temporary fix, but it seems the rear manual controls has an electrical issue and needs replacing.

I am having the exact same issue on my 2011 Journey R/T (3.6L - 203K).  The sync will not stay on and the front blower will randomly start up.  I turn it off and seconds later it starts back up, this can happen 4 or 5 times in a minute, I give up and turn the fan down to low.  Something else I've seen....the temp display on the screen will flash randomly for the driver and passenger.  The flashing continues until I shut the vehicle off.  If I start it back up 5 min later it no longer flashes....has anyone seen this before?

Cheers

So I was having this issue last summer. And I ended up having unrelated battery parasitic draw issues this past winter which required me to pull some fuses until I figured out the issue.

Regardless, one of the fuses I ended up pulling was for the HVAC. Front and rear. This wasn't the issue, however I noticed since pulling and reseating those fuses, my climate stopped randomly turning on. Could be a coincidence but just posting it here in case it helps.
