2017 Brake (?) or Wheel Noises

Recommended Posts

Hi all! Well, I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new 2017 Journey with V6 AWD. With about 150 miles on it ( had 11 on it when I drove it off the lot Monday), I was slowing through a construction zone ( on new pavement) and from the rear right comes a rubbing noise on brake application, sort of like "Shook, shook, shook" and proportional to speed. The same noise was less audible , but still there, without brake application. The  first thing I thought of was maybe the wheel was falling off, loose lug nuts. torqued wrong or something. I stopped at the nearest gas station and walked around shaking the wheels. They seemed okay. What's is going on? Is this a common complaint?

P.S.- Yes, I know I can take it back to the dealer, but its 75 miles away and would like to go in armed with some insight beforehand. Thanks!

You might have picked up a stone that got wedged between the disk and the pad or caliper and was rotating with the brake pressure.

Are there any score marks on the disk? If yes, it isn't fatal, but note that it would come under the heading of road hazard and wouldn't be covered by the factory warranty.
