Odd continuous stutter or shudder on a 2015 Crossroad

Hello fellow Journey folk,

We have just bought a 2015 Journey FWD Crossroad model, love it for almost everything but it does have a minor niggle that is either me going mental and imagining or a it is a real problem.

There is a constant 'stutter' when driving; it is faint but there and can be felt in the seat and pedals. Now, I've had cars for long enough to know it's definitely not bad wheels or tires as I've had wheels replaced twice and tires three times - all perfectly balanced but zero change in drive feel. Plus the feel isn't a typical bad wheel or tire one.

I have also had the transmission fluid and filter changed, but again no difference to the drive.

It's a strange sensation but hoping someone can identify or has perhaps had something similar.

No clunks, sounds, etc. It's almost like a faint misfire if that makes sense? And its present at all speeds, low or high and quite pronounced on smooth flat roads.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

well  since you havent said how long you have had the car( the trans has a learning period on your driving habits)or how many miles are on the speedo, condition of the vehicle. its hard to give advice, i have a 2014 crossroad  with about 68k on it and I dont have the problem you describe feeling something thur the pedals or seat i might would suggests brake rotors but only if felt when braking. possible bent wheel or maybe a wheel bearing starting to go bad, what ever you find let us know and good luck .also might could be a bad spark plug i had something like that yrs ago on a caravan drove me crazy as it didnt cause enough  trouble till it finally went bad enough to find it... just a thought on the plugs

Thanks for the replies.

We've had it for 3 months and have put on just under 8k so its not the transmission learning (current mileage is just under 60K). Brakes and tires are brand new so no warping/sticking etc.

Same with the suspension components, everything is tight there. No accidents or anything.

The dealer checked it out and could feel it, they suggested tires so balanced, for a third time with no change. They then suggested a transmission service so I also had that done.

I thought about plugs too but no codes are showing and no lights are on, it accelerates and idles like a champ - would bad plugs or coils always throw a code?

I've got a feeling it is transmission or engine related based on the feedback through the drive-train but how do you diagnose that? And ideally before the warranty expires very soon!

We thought we'd be able to live with it but it's almost like water torture in that this subtle but constant stutter is slowly eating away at us. I'm thinking of selling it but will take a huge hit so would ideally like to get it resolved.

not always , so is this a dodge dealership you are dealing with or a reg car lot? might be fuel pressure problem or a vacuum leak who knows you wont find the answer here as we cannot see or have knowledge of the problem you need to take it to a qualified garage that you trust good luck...

Taken it to two Dodge dealers and they both feel the problem but say this is normal, which is rubbish as I've driven others that are smooth as they should be.

I've had lots of luck from forums in the past due to owners sharing possibly common problems, hence posing the question here after the visit to the dealers.

i would probably change the plugs as i said i once has a caravan that ended up being a bad plug wasn't throwing a code and most of the time it ran ok but then would mess up kind of like a hesitation , sorry dont have any other idea.

Thanks a bunch for this, I may just do this and see what happens through a process of elimination!

Cheers, will feedback if it fixes it.

I have changed all plugs and that shudder has gone and car now smooth on driving. In addition, I have noticed a small leak after throllet from the pipe that coming from camshift cover.

Thanks a bunch for the update, good to hear. Did you get any sort of engine light or changed hoping it would work?

I didn't realise it was such an expensive job, mine is still under warranty so wondering how I get it done through that. I did ask the dealer but they said us aren't due yet.

What was the exact problem you had?

Thanks

Geez, I did read the post and geez, wanted to make sure I completely understood before dropping $500 to have the plugs changed. Stay off the thread if it's getting painful for you.

For those that aren't as moronic and tried to help, thank you.

I did have the plugs changes today but sadly to no avail, which is what the dealer told me before changing. They also checked the driveshaft which seems fine, as do the tires and wheels.

They can feel it but can't diagnose it, and that's now two Dodge dealers. They also said a bad torque converter would throw a code but there is zero showing.

I still think it is transmission related as there's a hard thump at times when accelerating from a standstill and I believe those two things are related.

Thanks, I feel bad for me too! But seriously, appreciate all the help so far. We do like the Dodge lots other than this on issue which is taking out the fun. Will drop Stephanie a note.
