Gymanji
So, I'm installing a hitch on my 2016 Journey R/T, and while I'm under the bumper I see this cable/connector that is neatly terminated to nothing. Anybody know what it is for? (see attached pic)
bramfrank
That is where the factory trailer harness connects. It has to be activated by the dealer. jkeaton and larryl 1
Ray2004
How did the install go? Did you use the factory harness?
martyman.geo
I have a 2015 DJ and have the same connector under the car as well. I purchased the factory harness through Mopar which required a hole to be drilled through the jack storage compartment but there was no connector for the plug mentioned in this thread. Did I order the wrong harness?
Armando G
None of the harnesses should require a hole to be drilled...if they do, buy another one. The Curt harness works great and the factory harness should only be used if you have the pre-installed wire present (in my opinion) and are ready to pay to have it flashed. My dealer wanted $150 for what they say is the correct harness and another $200 to flash...made the decision to go with the Curt harness much easier and it has worked amazingly every time I use it. I remove the fuse when not in use and have not had any issues at all.
