RussianKamakaze
Hello, not sure if this is the correct forum to post this, but I've recently been having an issue with my 2016 Dodge Journey Crossroad. Whenever the A/C is on, and I make a left (only left) turn, there is a hissing sound, kind of like a rain stick. It sounds like rice sliding down a PVC pipe. Whenever I turn right, however, extremely hot water pours on my foot while driver and it's extremely painful. It's got 37,000 miles on it and only recently did it start doing this. It's also only happening whenever the A/C is on.

RussianKamakaze
Any idea on what could have caused that? Would that be difficult to fix myself?

bfurth
Front heater core is around $100 on RockAuto (I'm sure OEM is more). You would also need a coolant flush (DIY, assume another $50 in coolant and distilled water). Heater core replacement for the Journey is in the neighborhood of 5.5 - 6 hours of labor. If you have to pay full cost, expect a repair bill around $800 - $900. Did you ever add coolant to your Journey? If so, did you make sure to add the right type? Dealer is probably going to ask the same thing, because while a leaking core could just happen, it probably doesn't (depending on what failed). The first (real) step in removing the front HVAC assembly is to drain and recover the refrigerant from your cooling system. Based on that alone, this is not really a DIY job. Talk to your local dealer, and talk to Dodge Cares - that's a VERY premature failure on a part that can be reasonably assumed to last the life of the vehicle. RussianKamakaze
So, I did a little research on this issue before taking it to the dealership. It was one of two things, 1). A/C Drain Tube. @). Heater Core. After I dropped it off at the dealership, they called me the next morning saying that the couldn't replicate any of the issues I was having (i.e. hissing noise and hot liquid above gas pedal.) What they DID tell me was that my A/C Drain Tube was extremely clogged with leaves, dirt, and other debris. Said that a tech took compressed air to it and blew a whole bunch of stuff out. The service manager told me that that would most likely resolve the issue. Upon driving it to and from work today, there is no more issue. They also didn't charge me for this, not even for the diagnosis! Thank you for all of the input on the issue, this was really stressing me out. The site is legitimate, I bought a Mopar factory extended lifetime warranty for my 2015 DJ through them, and at a lower cost than it can be obtained elsewhere.
