Jstmahoney
Just received my recall notice for the cruise control/software update. Wondering if anyone else has? 14 Journey. I scheduled an appointment with my dealer for this Monday. I’m Eager to see if this update will help with the Indecisive transmission...I’ve always Notticed it, never bothered me till I got my new Ram. With that 8 speed its annoyingly noticeable

bfurth
I haven't had it done yet. I'm waiting for an insurance claim against another driver who was towing an open rail trailer with a pile of gravel all over it that hit a bump in the road and sprayed rocks all over the front of my DJ From the description of the problem (electronic controlled throttle, cruise control, and transmission, PCM calls for torque and simultaneously has an electrical short causing a stuck and non-responsive throttle), it should be little more than a programming change in a specific procedure (if loss of signal, cancel automatic throttle control). I'm not an engineer, but I do have a college course background in computer programming. Given that it is only a software update, this is a highly likely scenario for the fix. jkeaton and 2late4u 1

There will be a software update to the Powertrain Control Module. FCA plans to launch the update towards the end of this month. Armando G
Got my oil changed, TPMS thing replaced on the front passenger tire, and my recall done today before heading out on our first summer trip. I'll definitely use my Cruise Control so figured I better get it done before the trip. Took about an hour and might just be a mental thing, but the car feels better than before it went in. She must be happy with the work.

It is very low likelihood, but by telling everyone note to use it, FCA will use that to deny liability if something does happen. Besides, mine is brand new and I don't think I have even used the cruise yet. If something is going to fail, it typically does very early (infant mortality) or after extended use, but not so much in between.

2late4u
actually yrs ago with my caravan i had a episode with a cruise control not disengaging after stepping on the brake pedal was kind of scary as of course i was coming up behind another car but mine disengaged by simply shutting off the unit whit the cancel button. I had just that day picked the van up from the dealership where they had worked on the transmission and after looking at the van they latter called and said the van is fixed that it was the brake pedal switch that had gone bad, i kept asking about it as i had just picked it up from the dealership and that it was working before they had it and it wasn't after they gave it back to me ,they kept saying they didnt do anything to have damaged the brake switch disconnect but i had a hard time coming around to their way of thinking. But is was a scary thing to happen and was lucky to have been able to just hit the cancel button....... Bitmapped
Has anyone experienced any problems after getting the 49U update done? I had my 2015 Journey done yesterday. It drove fine yesterday but today, when I was about an hour away from home, the instrument cluster suddenly went haywire as I was driving. Check Engine, Traction Control, Brake, and ABS lights turned on plus a Service AWD message on the cluster LCD. The car drove OK. I got to a nearby parking lot and shut off the car. It wouldn't start - pressing the on/off button just cycled through accessory/run/off even with my foot on the brake. I ended up disconnecting the negative battery terminal and when I reconnected, the car started and ran fine. I'm thinking something got botched in the update? They said the earliest they can get me in is Friday. (It's Saturday as I write this.) I guess I'm going to keep driving the car in the meantime and just make sure I stay in places where I have cell service. I used a code scanner. It pulled the following logged, not current, codes: U11BC - lost brake switch, which explains why it didn't recognize I had the brake depressed to start U1110 - PCM didn't receive speed signal from ABS over CAN-C bus U1120 - PCM lost wheel distance signal P03D1 - ??? B3CD1 - ??? Does anyone know what P03D1 and B3CD1 are? Googling hasn't been helpful. I took the car to Advance Auto Parts and had them check the battery and alternator. Battery comes out good (494 CCA on 525 CCA battery, 12.8 volts) and alternator checked out (14v no load, 13.85v under load) so I don't think it's a problem with anything electrical. To me, it seems like all signs are pointing back to a problem with the PCM.
Summer Solstice
Had my update done a couple of weeks ago while the vehicle was in for an unrelated warranty issue. I use the cruise every day for a short period and did even before the update. Obviously, if you do so against FAC suggestions, it is at your own risk. I had never experienced any problem with mine. I've put about 300 miles on the car since the incident and haven't had any problems. I did go in for my scheduled appointment at the dealer this morning. Their code scanner pulled ABS-related codes. They said they inspected the connections and components and nothing seemed amiss. Unless the problem occurs again, we're just going to chalk this up to some sort of glitch. Shawn855
Just updating this topic. The update is actually a PCM downgrade? As per my paperwork, "Flashed the PCM from 68274648AC to 68244648AE"
