Castro23
I have a 2015 dodge journey se, within the last 4 days have had to repair the radiator hose because it was leaking, then after we noticed it was running hotter then it should so we decided to take it to the dealer, after checking it they said there was a leak in the heater hose, it was gonna cost $521 to fix it so my dad was able to fix that part himself tobsave on cost but it's still running hot not as bad as before but still going past the half way mark. So next we have changed out the temp sensor it does fine if you are driving 60 or less but when you reach about 65-70 mph its begins to heat up and temp reaches 239° oil- 206° and trans temp is 125°. Once you begin to drop speed though the temp starts to come down, our next thought is the thermostat, but would anyone else have any suggestion on what it could be? Or does anyone know what the normal running temp should be? Edited September 9, 2018 by Castro23
larryl
Do you have enough coolant in the system?
Castro23
Yes, we bought some and added coolant when we changed out the heater hose.

Castro23
Yes we should have that was exactly the issue the thermostat was not opening, switched it out runs perfect now, have a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine..now we know but hopefully won't have this issue for a long time from now.
