and1
Help Please. Does anyone know if the 3.5L High Output SXT Model has an Engine oil cooler standard our how do I find if it has one? My Journey did not come with the Trailer tow package so what are all the things that will have to be added in order to tow a 3000lb ski boat. crunkfrunk
You will see 2 smaller lines running into one end of the radiator going to underneath the engine Not sure what else you would need

BUGS
If you are not an aggressive driver with a trailer load all you may need to do is change the engine oil a bit more often - like every 4-6 K instead of 10K. The oil temp will tell you if you need a cooler, most times not. I tow 3800 lbs with no appreciable engine temperature rise. The oil is already cooled in lower portion of the radiator and the transmission fluid is cooled by the condensor for the A/C (so my mechanic says). I also found out it will cost approx. $500.00 to install additional oil cooler using Dodge parts.
09DWBJOUNEY
I just had my mechanic install the factory oil cooler. He charged me for two hours and I was happy. If you purchased the attached list you would have a few extra parts but I am not sure what was extra. Enjoy! warbird24
When we ordered our Journey a week ago I made sure the box for the Trailer Prep was "X" out because I wanted to have the extra insurance of properly cooled oil for the long term benefit of the vehicle. My wife and I keep our vehicles a long time (10 plus years on average). For the price of this package, I feel it is well worth it.
Cableguy
I purchased my 2010 Journey SXT V6 with the tow prep group and it states in the specs that it came with an oil cooler. Now I have recently done my own oil change now with synthetic oil and it states the engine takes 6 quarts or 5.7 litres. If your Journey came with the tow prep group option then you should have an oil cooler. Double check with your dealer to be safe!
