Jessee
When I remove the 4 screws holding the back up assist camera and license plate light assembly there is something in the middle at the camera area that is still attached and keeping me from removing the assembly. Any ideas what this could be and how to undo what ever it may be?
bramfrank
Yes. There's a nut attached to a stud on the bezel that is accessed from the inside of the hatch
Jessee
Thanx for the reply. Will look into it on my first opportunity and let you know how I made out.
Jessee
I disassembled the interior hatch trim breaking one clip in the process but found the stud and nut you mentioned. unplugged and removed the camera. Reinstalled the interior trim with the missing broken clip; I think it will be alright as is. Now to find a new camera. 2late4u
why are you replacing the camera?
Jessee
When I put the car into reverse the back up assist camera displays the sentence on the top of the screen that reads “check all surrounding areas” and the rest of the viewing screen is nothing but static and red squiggly intermittent lines. The screen works fine for the radio and system functions so I believe the radio/monitor is functioning OK. Pulled the camera to check for damage ( housing, wires etc...). If it’s not to expensive I was going to put in a new one. Might be a fix or not. Any ideas?
Mark Reimer
Would like to m ow if you find a good price on a replacement camera. Thanks
Jessee
I have actually done nothing with this issue since I took out the camera. I have not had the camera tested yet. Talk about procrastination. Starting to get use to not having it. But maybe this post will motivate me.
OhareFred
Did you check the wires in the tailgate? Common issue with wires being broken in the rubber wire loom at the top of the tailgate. jkeaton
Mark Reimer
I fixed the wire in the tailgate but was told it could of shorted the camera. Trying to find just a camera to replace it.
