Dtlantzy
I've been having random (what I think are) electrical problems. Driver's window (and only the driver's) is sometimes hard to roll up. I have to pull up hard on the switch (constant problem) Radio occasionally is extremely loud when I turn the car on. Doesn't matter how low the volume is when I turn the car off, it's still very loud when I turn it back on, even though the volume level remains at, say, 4-5. (Intermittent Problem) Cruise control won't turn on at all anymore (constant problem) Climate control randomly turns on or off while driving (intermittent problem) "Back" button on the steering wheel sometimes has to be pressed rather hard to get it to work, and doesn't always register that it is being pressed (intermittent problem) Anyone have any ideas what could cause all of this or what I should look for? I have a '12 SXT. Edited July 12, 2019 by Dtlantzy
Summer Solstice
How old is your battery and have you had it tested? Weird electrical problem solving on the Dodge Journey start by ruling out the battery.
Dtlantzy
I have no idea how old it is. I can tell you I’ve never had it changed in the 3 1/2 years I’ve had the car. How would I go about testing it and what am I testing it for?
Summer Solstice
Take it to any auto parts store and they should be able to tell you the age (it should be on the battery) and they can test it. You also want to have the alternator load tested. An auto parts store will likely do this for free because they want to sell you a battery. Alternately, you can have a shop do it and the cost should be small. The reason to start here is there are many cases, as documented on this forum, of weak batteries causing all kinds of weird electrical symptoms and throwing a wide variety of codes. Your problems are pretty wide spread but it is the simplest and easiest place to start.
