Ngbennett1996
I have a 2012 dj sxt. Had it about 6 months. It makes a ticking noise maybe slightly clunky noise when idle or at slow speeds. Kind of a rough sounding idle. gets better at higher speeds, gets worse when turning at slower speeds. Mechanic said it might be a valve but idk. If u have a solution please let me know Edited October 1, 2019 by Ngbennett1996
jkeaton
Might be a valve. Might be normal valvetrain/timing chain noise, might be low on oil, a pulley going bad, AC compressor, etc....kinda impossible to diagnose a ticking sound over the internet. Mechanics stethoscope will help you isolate exactly where the sound is coming from. Auburn2011
Yeah, i would suggest a dodge dealership check it out unless you have a very good local mechanic. Mine was a camshaft, so fairly in depth, but it was fixed and ticking went away completely. Expensive but fixed. I have 294,000 on my journey currently.
