Blsmith154
When the temperature gets below 45 degrees Fahrenheit my car goes haywire. All warning lights are on, speedometer and Uconnect screen won’t work, wiper blades are on and unable to turn off, my headlights are on but the controls won’t work and my brights won’t work. The dealership wanted 1600 because they “think it is the TIPM” but are unsure. Well I changed the TIPM myself for $330 and it is still doing it. I can at least return the one I bought and am only out $85 which is better than paying $1600 for them to tell me it didn’t work. I have no idea what to do aside from selling the vehicle, but then the problem would just change hands. The dealership doesn’t know how to diagnose this problem, and every time I take it there I’m out $100 and nowhere closer to knowing what the problem is or how to fix it. I can’t be the only one having this problem. I’ve researched and am now at a loss. Please help.

NavalLacrosse
BCM failing due to condensation inside the computer? that's my guess (and someone else is new to the forum is posting similar issues, not cold related) jkeaton
Summer Solstice
Condensation or a bad solder joint. When a circuit board is cold, it contracts. When it warms up it expands. This creates problems with weak solder joints. Granted, the problem will usually manifest itself in the opposite direction than what you seem to be experiencing. I won't guess on the component but I also would suspect something electrical. Have you had the battery load checked? It may be weak and only showing in the colder weather. It is a simple item to rule out first and seems to be one of the most common trouble points in the Journey. Blsmith154
Battery and alternator were replaced 2 months ago. This problem has been happening for years. I gave up on it because it goes away once the vehicle warms up, so I usually just wake up early and remote start it prior to leaving. But I had a renewed interest in it. I would love to get it fixed. It’s not the TIPM. I’m not sure about the PCM though.
