dmoseley
First post. Hope someone can help. 2012 SXT 3.6L 6 speed. With the transmission in Drive the accelerator pedal shudders past 40 MPH. When I drop it into the manual mode, all is fine in gears 1-4. In 5 and 6, regardless of RPM, the accelerator pedal will shudder when I try to give it gas. I’m not sure if this is a gear problem, a shift sensor problem, a speed sensor problem, or something else. But it is not a problem with the front end, or with the engine. I can go 60+ MPH in 4th with no problems. But it obviously shifts into 5th at 40 MPH when in Drive and I see the problem. It will drift on up to higher speeds and shift into 6th, but you just can’t give it much gas or it will shudder. By shudder the actual pedal shuttle pumps against your foot and you can feel the vehicle stalling down not being responsive to the pedal. 191k miles. Thanks so much. 2late4u
the gas pedal is drive by wire so you must have a electrical problem i would believe, other than that i have no idea i am sure others will chime in here with more info.good luck
dmoseley
Thanks for the reply. And, true. There's no linkage for the pedal. It's just a switch. And the Journey is no stranger to electrical problems. But what throws me is that it only seems to do it in the higher gears. Without knowing more about how it shifts I'm at a loss. I know many people have had problems with the transmission control unit, or the relay for that unit, but, again, it does it at a very specific time. 40+ MPH in Drive. Not all the time. I just hope its not the whole tranny. I don't want to dump a few thousand more into this vehicle.
Summer Solstice
Plug in a code scanner and see if anything comes up. Auto parts stores may do it for free. I just had a different vehicle scanned today. jkeaton and 2late4u

John/Horace
Welcome to forum. Have someone plug in a scanner and see what codes show up. What is transmission 6 or 4 speed, mileage.?
