JamieBrooke1105
I have a 2009 Dodge Journey awd r/t. Part of my drive shaft that connects to the cv axel is broken and I am unsure of the name of the part. Does anyone know the part in this video that is broken? I can’t think of what it is called. Thank you! IMG_5472.mov Edited June 20, 2020 by JamieBrooke1105

JamieBrooke1105
I have not found out the part yet. I’m a girl also. I have someone coming over to remove it to try and figure out what it’s called. I’m a single mom due to my child’s father passing away at the end of April and I am with a car until I can figure out this part to get my car fixed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

JamieBrooke1105
It’s a 3.5L AWD R/T and it is located in the front next to the transmission on the passenger side of the car
2late4u
dealership would be able to give the correct name and OEM price, and with that you could go aftermarket but be careful of the quality of the aftermarket parts....sometimes the cheap ends up costing more than the OEM route
2late4u
from your video that doesn't look any thing like a cv joint for the front right side unless it is missing a bunch of the part. like rubber boot and the outer metal covering.....google Cardone New® - CV Axle Shaft $47.31 - $55.92 for a picture of what it should look like
John/Horace
I used android device to view clip. It’s your drive shaft, not a c/v drive axle. Pricy item to buy. May be able to remove shaft and drive in two wheel drive only for now. Mopar unit on roacka is $850 cdn dollars. John/Horace
You will probably have a light on dash without driveshaft in place. But I think car will be driveable. Aftermarket shafts will be a little cheaper than Mopar, although not as durable.
2late4u
there is also the scrap yards as well for used parts
John/Horace
Yeah another option, the part recyclers. On a low labour installation job like this a very good option. You didn’t need a part that is going to last another 100k if car won’t be on the road that long. https://www.car-part.com/ Edited June 24, 2020 by John/Horace

jd00d
From my research it's the CV joint on the driveshaft at the transfer case for the rear wheel drive. Mine isn't that bad, my boot is torn, so it's only a matter of time for mine. I haven't been able to locate just the CV joint. Apparently Mopar thought it wise to only include it with the whole drive shaft. It honestly makes no sense to me when you can buy a rebuilt kit for the same thing on a jk jeep and also on trucks. If anyone actually knows of a comparable part without spending 500 to 1 k for a new driveshaft let me know.
Armando G
Hmmm... let me guess, friend came over, figured it our for her, and she moved on with life. One post wonder... 2late4u and OhareFred 1
John/Horace
We knew it was the part, we really didn’t need her conforming that, but repair info would have been useful. Almost guaranteed car is running as a two wheel drive vehicle now. I did that on my 300k Jeep for 6 months before selling it. Here is new shaft for $700 Canadian pesos, can be picked up in Hamilton to avoid $68 for shipping. Oem part. A lot of companies sell only full shaft assembly, common occurrence now. https://www.moparpartscanada.ca/oem-parts/mopar-propeller-shaft-5157005af/?c=Zz11bml2ZXJzYWxzLWFuZC1yZWFyLWF4bGUmcz1kcml2ZS1heGxlcyZpPVRLMDk3MzU1JnI9OCZhPWRvZGdlJm89am91cm5leSZ5PTIwMTQmdD1yLXQmZT0zLTZsLXY2LWZsZXg%3D
