jtcowman
Hello all, We bought a 2013 Journey last week and I am working on figuring out all of its idiosyncrasies. One thing I noticed is that when you unlock the door with a key (an extra I had made, no electronics) with the FOB not present the alarm goes off. Is there a way top change this? I checked the owners manual and could not find any adjustment or way to reprogram. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that the alarm should go off if you are using a key! Thanks, Jim
OhareFred
No way to change it, that’s how it works. You can open the door but need to start the car or the security system goes off... Summer Solstice and Armando G
Armando G
Are you able to start it without the FOB being present? I have the push button, so I have to have the FOB, so just curious on yours.
OhareFred
Of course not. You need the fob or fob/key to start the car. The “hard” key is for when your fob won’t open the door. Even if your fob battery is dead, if you press the fob on the start button the car can start.

Thanks, Jim that is what the security system is suppose to do when a door is unlocked without the proper key, otherwise why have a security system..... jtcowman
I have to start it with the push button, so the fob has to be present.
