Brandon S
Hello all, I'm new here. Today I purchased a 2013 Journey after 5 minutes or so if driving it started bucking and sputtering upon giving it gas at times. It seems to stop if i let of the gas or give it half throttle or more. It also doesn't seem like it has as much power as it should. Does that sound like fuel injectors to y'all or something else? I'm taking it back to the dealership tomorrow to have them fix it. 2late4u
need more info if it has the 2.4 could easily be the plugs they should be changed out at 30 k and only use the OEM plugs, but since you are taking it back let us know what they say
jkeaton
Could be anything. Let us know what the dealer says. Also provide as much vehicle info as possible so we are not having to ask you questions. Engine size, mileage, maintenance history, Dodge dealer. used car dealer, warranty, etc. 2late4u and Summer Solstice
Brandon S
Got a call from the dealer today.. Says its throwing low voltage codes so they are going to put a new battery in it, do a fuel system cleaning, tune up, and service the trans. Quoted me $975. Its a 2013 with the 4 cyl, 95,xxx miles, according to car fax its a 1 owner with fairly regular scheduled services. It came from a Hyundai dealer someone used it as a trade in. 2late4u
well any of this might be the cause except the battery, good luck on this repair, you mentioned you had just bought it from them and they are wanting you to pay for fixing it? guess no warranty, . keep us informed if this solves your problem jkeaton

2late4u
yep i would be upset as well since he said he just bought it,but that is one reason i dont like to buy used if i can avoid it. battery thur dealership probally around 150 at least ,plugs around 150 as well and trans service around 200, and have no idea on the cost of a fuel system cleaning, I did the plugs on my daughters 2.4 jeep was about $11 for the plugs and 20 minutes to install them they need to be changed out every 30 k and only use the OEM copper plugs, i would bet that is the problem Edited July 23, 2020 by 2late4u spelling jkeaton

I'm taking it back to the dealership tomorrow to have them fix it. my daughter had a caravan that acted like that and she thought it was the trans and i changed the plugs and actually one of the plugs was loose and that fixed her problem.......that said i also had a boat that acted like that,if i took off slow it ran fine ,idled fine but if tried to take off fast it would die out, of course the boat shops were already booked up for at least 2 months before they could look at it, i tired everything, even pulled the fuel pump off and checked it pumping good off the engine ,put a fuel/water separator on it ,changed plugs and points and anything else i could think of and then my dad thought about following the gas line and it was there we found the anti-siphon valve was stuck in the half way open position enough gas to idle but not to run wide open under a load, so yes could be injectors as well but think its the plugs first jkeaton
Brandon S
Update: They are taking care of everything free of charge and gave me a 2020 Hyundai Tucson for a loaner until Wednesday when i go to pick it back up. They were kinda hard to work with at first until I contacted the GM and discussed it with him. 2late4u and Summer Solstice
