Sazzleevans
Hi I have asked my Dodge dealer to retro fit the rooF rails on my Dodge Journey SXT. (part number 82211460) I got the info off here and decided it would be a great addition as in the summer I am hoping to get some surf boards on the top. The garage called today to say that they can install the roof rails but stressed that the roof bars supplied with it are simply cosmetic and wont take a load. They said for this I would need to order the sports bars as the ones supplied are just cosmetic? What do you guys think? Thanks SARAH
brwengel
Well, I went to the Dodge website and looked up that part number. The description states that it will carry 75-100 lbs., and it looks very similar to my factory installed roof rack. I've had my headliner down and do not see any additional support under the roof on my Journey, so I don't know what the garage would be talking about. You should ask the dealer where you bought the roof racks (I assume it's not the same place you are having them installed) about the load capacity. Good Luck. Sazzleevans
[Hi Thanks for your reply. I rang the dodge dealer garage yesterday and they said they could order and fit the rack. Then they called this morning to say they could still install it but they recommend the sports bars as the other bars are just cosmetic. I would be suprised if they are just saying it to get me to buy the sports bars as they have always been good but who knows? Sarah
brwengel
I'm not sure what these "Sport Bars" are that you keep mentioning, do you have a part number. Are they much more expensive than the ones you have already purchased? How much weight are these other bars good for?
