Shawn855
I'm looking at installing a hitch receiver, and decided to also look into the wiring necessities. When i looked under the rear bumper, i found this plug. I tried searching everywhere online and it doesn't seem to match any trailer wiring plug I've seen. Can anyone shed light on what this plug is used for? (The images were taken from another site in 2014 but the user never got an answer so i'm using them here for clarification). 2016 journey 3.6L SXT
Shawn855
Think i got it. From my understanding it's the plug to convert the LED lights to trailer lights. Would still need to install a wiring harness, and also go to the dealer to flash the system to activate this plug. Maybe i'll just install the tow package on my chevy cruze instead since they both have the same towing capacity of 1200kg.
Armando G
That is the hitch wire plug. You need to buy the $70-$85 harness and get it flashed for another $75-$100 depending on where you are. Using the Curt wiring harness is cheaper and easy to install. John/Horace
Can just hook up direct without bothering with dealer. Although trailer brake 7 pin plug you would want dealer flash for controller, trailer over 2,000 pounds requirement.
