Mr_Twk
Hey guys, new here! My journey seems to have started having a slight overheating issue. I've started noticing the temp gauge slightly going over the half mark. My question is, is the fan supposed to kick into high mode when the ac is turned on? When I do turn the ac on the fan is supposed only spins slowly. And the high speed only kicks on when the cars coolant temp reaches about 220+. Idk what this cars fan speeds are supposed to be like since its my wife's car and I rarely drive this thing. Any help would be appreciated. Also the coolant reservoir level doesn't doesn't change from when the car is cool to when it warms up.
NavalLacrosse
Perhaps borrow her car, and drive it for a few days and see if it acts suspicious. In summer, When I've had my A/C on while idling in a warm parking lot, the Radiator fan will run at full speed- That is not because the A/C is on, necessarily, but because the coolant is getting really hot because of the A/C My guess is that the fan is working normally, and the radiator's just getting up to that hi-temp which necessitates the higher fan speed. keep in mind you live at higher altitudes, so the air is less dense and provides less heat transfer- This results in more airflow being required (higher fan speed) to maintain proper cooling. agm2112
Maybe you have a clogged/old/damaged thermostat valve. Is a 3.6 ? Very easy to check.
John/Horace
Thermostats are a wear item that constantly opens and closes mechanically. But 2017 is pretty new vehicle, it would have to have a lot of miles to be causing an issue I think. jkeaton
