maro
My 2.4 Dodge Journey (2010)sounds like the valves are rattling. Are they self adjusting by hydraulic lash adjusters ? Or mechanic should do it manually using valve lifters /tappets ? This engine is similar to Mitsubishi which requires manual regulation after 100 K. In Journey service manual there is no information about this until 200K or 10 years.... Share this conversation
5rebel9
Mechanical lash by shimmed buckets, I've not heard much of clearance concerns other than when doing a cylinder head rebuilding. Timing chains and camshaft removal needed in order to get at the "buckets. IMO if you're hearing rattling, I'd be thinking timing chain/guide wear instead. BUT other than year, no other info has been offered.
