Abryant2004
Hi all I don’t own a journey but I have a Mitsubishi Lancer gts with the journeys cousin 2.4 engine long story short I’m currently running a head from a 2010 journey with a Evo ex intake cam and the exhaust cam from the journey. I did this bc it looked as though the journeys duration was longer than the Evo x exhaust cam. Do any of your know the specifications for both of the journeys 2.4 camshafts? I’ve searched all around the net and haven’t been able to find to much info. Thanks
5rebel9
I'm really not so sure that specs of lift/duration would be any different as the 2.4 is known as the "world motor" and used in many vehicles. I'm also on an Avenger forum and this topic comes up quite often. One member tried such and found no diff, and even talked with a cam regrinding business. Yes they could RE grind a cam for change at GREAT cost, and no guarantee what the VVT system would do with such a change. That member GAVE UP and left it alone on cams and even found the Evo X manifold that he adapted in even left certain drivability aspects wanting. Abryant2004
The Evo x intake cam makes a decent improvement but the vvt maps need to be tuned for it. I run an Evo x intake manifold as well with a 65mm TB. Is there no tuning options available yet for the dodge 2.4? I use an open port 2.0 and ecuflash and can pretty much change anything getting a definition fire was sorta a pain. As for the journey cams it probably is no difference across dodge plantforms but the Mitsubishi 2.4 is only rated at 168hp and the dodge is rated at 175hp with same bore stroke and same valves so I assume those extra ponies must be in the cams. Eventually I plan to upgrade to stage 2 Evo cams when I have the cash though.
Abryant2004
Here is a pic of my set up so far I run a 35 shot to 50 shot of nitrous now and than as well
5rebel9
I don't know exacts of the specs, but I would assume that compression ratio and exhaust restrictions to be the difference in HP ratings. BTW, Decent looking engine bay shot for a Mitsu! Note...I have a 2.5 V6 mitsu/Dodge 98 Avenger Coupe! Abryant2004
I always liked the avengers from the late 90’s I was bumbed out when they brought the avenger back as a 4 door. I’m on a avenger forum too bc no one on the lancer boards really mess around building NA or nitrous so I find a lot better info on the dodge boards. I was trying to find the specs bc it would help with tuning but I can still log and tune just takes longer.
