behoof
Hi All, 2011 Dodge Journey R/T 3.6l Code P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Took it to the Dealer two days ago. They pulled the upper intake and valve covers to check the galley plugs? and they cross switched rt and lt CPS sensors and put it back together. I had them put some spark plugs in it since it has 110K miles on it. Bill came to $400. Mechanic drove it 22 miles and signed off on it. I picked it up and the writer said drive it until the CEL comes on then bring it back and hopefully it will be coded for the other bank... not so lucky as to show a bad sensor that way. I picked it up and drove a total of 60 miles and the CEL came back on. (I would have thought that being a Dodge dealer their test equipment/scanners would be able to pick up devices not performing to standard?) Not true???? Took it back in and now they have cross switched the phazer actuators and cleared codes. Again I picked it up and was once again told to drive until the CEL comes on and let them know. The CEL came back on in about 2 miles so I'm scheduled to drop it off again this Friday after Thanksgiving. This is my first experience with being on this side of the counter in a dealership... I retired in 96' so haven't been doing much wrenching of late, mostly just fixing farm stuff and older vehicles for friends and family as needed. Not familiar with the Pentstar 3.6. but have been told it's a great engine... it's been good to me until now :-) Sooo, I'm asking you DJ Guru's if you could perhaps shed a bit of light on this for me. Perhaps let me know that the dealers trial and try method is normal ( I'm inclined to believe it is from my personal experience with emission control systems and such)? Is there anything I should watch out for or that in your experience may be the culprit? With this P0340 what could be the worst case scenario ? Thanks all in advance for reading my documentary :-) John in Yale, MI
