rodaniel
I've been thinking about upgrading the receiver in my girlfriend's 2013 Journey as a birthday gift. She listens to music constantly from her Android phone but doesn't have a way to route that audio to the car. Something I noticed just a couple of nights ago is that the HVAC settings are displayed on the small touchscreen. If I replace the receiver with something like a Boss BV850ACP (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_104BV850AC/Boss-BV850ACP-Package.html), an Alpine iLX-W650 (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILXW650/Alpine-iLX-W650.html), or Kenwood DMX4707S (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DMX4707/Kenwood-DMX4707S.html), will the vehicle's non-audio info still be presented on the receiver? This is something I have no experience with, so I'm wondering if there are any big caveats or concerns with doing a non-OEM receiver upgrade like this? OhareFred
Talk to Crutchfield. They have a module and wire loom kit that keeps your factory stuff. I replaced my radio in my 09 with a Kenwood. I do not have heat controls on the screen (never did) but was able to keep the steering wheel controls, etc. the Kenwood unit has wireless CarPlay, Bluetooth phone (UConnect sucks, no more updates and doesn’t play nice with Apple) so I dumped the UConnect hands free and use the Kenwood system. Works flawlessly, which my wife loves and uses all the time. Chat with them, they know what you need. Make sure you give them all the correct information about the car....
