Dcarroll1002
I have a 2015 journey with around 70k miles. The gauges intermittently drop to zero when drive and bounces right back to their previous speed. Also the door chimes go off and randomly when I come to a stop it shuts off. The last time it shut off the heat came on, I could not turn it off of heat back to cool, disconnects Bluetooth and reset the clock. I don’t know where to begin. Any advice is appreciated! 2late4u
Definitely have your battery load checked and also the alt ,local parts store will do this for free, journeys are bad to act crazy with a low battery charge also make sure the battery clamps are clean and tight. larryl, NavalLacrosse and OhareFred 1 1

Apparently my 8 month old battery is bad. Hopefully a new one fixes it. Thanks!!! 2late4u, NavalLacrosse and OhareFred 1 1
Dcarroll1002
Changing the battery didn’t help. Also the car completely died a few days ago causing my daughter to rear end someone. Any other ideas? Thanks again!
5rebel9
your postings indicate happenings that stem from intermittent loss of electrical power OR ground. A few more specifics, such as engine size and AWD/FWD would be helpful. 2late4u and OhareFred
5rebel9
Also, If you're not big into repairing vehicles, you may want to consider having a reputable shop do a full systems scan(and not just OBD11 engine/trans codes). This will give you stronger "footing" on how to proceed in finding the problem. 2late4u, Summer Solstice and OhareFred
Dcarroll1002
Its fwd and 2.4. After running a scan and getting stored errors for crank position sensor, we changed that yesterday. New battery and grounds are nice and tight
5rebel9
I hope the damage was not too great to the front end. thanks for the updated info. At the miles posted, it is due for spark plugs( they seem to do this with all FCA models with the 2.4 motor). I hope you used an OEM brand crank sensor, as aftermarket ones seem a hit or miss in working properly with these motors. Keep us posted as to how things work out thru the next couple uses, as I'm not sure by your posting if your problem is now "squared away". Dcarroll1002
I was able to get it back together nicely. Almost can’t tell a receiver hitch went thru the radiator. So far no problems after changing the crankshaft position sensor. Will update again in about a week for a final summary. Thanks for the info!! 5rebel9
John/Horace
CPS failure is pretty common on the 2.4. But happens on lots of models of other vehicles too. They are cheap enough that I change the in the 100k range to avoid any hazels.
