John/Horace Posted April 20, 2021 Report Share Posted April 20, 2021 (edited) I would grab a few sheet metal screws and washers and secure it again. The heat shields are there for a reason. Wife’s Journey 3.6 heat guard started hanging down and rubbing on driveshaft, had to add fasteners last year. There have been grass fires from missing catalytic converter guards. Carpeting and electrical is protected sometimes as well. They are really flimsy and not well secured. phoenix1151 Posted August 7, 2021 Report Share Posted August 7, 2021 The 6mm-1 bolts securing the heat shields have a rounded "washer" to spread the compression on the thin/soft aluminum but I just found 3 locations where the "washer" has worked through the aluminum. I've cleaned up the remaining threads on the original bolts with a die and will put larger washers on with an additional nut as the original nut is rusted on. I'm in rust belt so I had a harder time cleaning up studs. Fender washers allow just one washer, but enough thread there anyway. The underside of that journey from the peg is amazing, in first post.
