2.4 2014 Journey running hot

Recommended Posts

My 2014 Dodge Journey with thr 2.4L engine started running hot suddenly. I was driving home at night in about 80 degree weather and it got up to 226 degrees F. I bled my cooling system today but not much came out. I fixed all previous leaks in the cooling system.. Could it be my water pump going out? Normally I run at 202-208 at any speed. Right now I'm running about 213-217 and it gets uo to 226 when I stop. Only thing I can think of is the water pump going out. Anybody have this problem or a solution?

also do you have the proper ratio of coolant and water,? did you replace with new coolant? what leaks did you fix before? as mentioned did you replace your 2 thermostats? also as mentioned are the fans coming on at the proper time?  after all your journey is going on 7 yrs old might be time to do a back flush and new coolant i just had my 2014 transmission  and coolant service done at the dealership, just makes good sense. most water pump problems are leaks as was my grandsons water pump leak on his truck.actually it was a seal leak as most newer vehicle use rubber seals instead of the older style gaskets, but we replaced the pump with a new thermostat as well since it was a 15 yr old truck
